Poppy 🏵️
These posts are always so hard to write. Even having the gift of time - time to say goodbye, time to grieve, time to make her last few months special - doesn’t make it any easier.
If anything, it makes you realise how quickly it all still goes, and how impossible it is not to wish for more.
Poppy was such a special part of our pack. She was always just… there. A constant. She joined us when everything was still new, and played such a big role in shaping what our packs have become today.
She was the kind of dog who made me seriously consider getting my own shepherd. Her temperament, her sociability, her eagerness to please, and her absolute zest for life.
She was often the one being told to “chill out,” while she taught the younger, newer dogs how to play like absolute chaos and switch their ears off completely. But at the same time, she saved us more times than I can count. She was so beautifully social and so reliable that I could let her off lead in tricky situations, trusting her completely. She had this incredible presence. She could step in, interrupt tension before it escalated, and send dogs on their way without a fuss. It was something really special to watch.
I’m going to miss you so much, Poppy. You were so lucky to have landed with the family you did; and we were just as lucky to have had you as part of ours.
Rest easy, Pops. You were taken far too soon ❤️😭
