Wow we have had such an amazing response to our Learn to groom your dog at home classes that the first class on the 14th February is now full. This class is going to be a Shihtzu mix class so if anyone is thinking about learning to groom their own dog feel free to register for your dog breed class. We have created these classes because it has come to our attention that more and more people are trying to groom their own dog and are struggling to know what the correct tools are for their breed of dog and also how to do it properly. Breeds we will be covering in future classes are Schnauzer’s - West highland terriers - Labradoodles - Shihtzu- Poodles.

I’m sorry to anyone I have not returned emails to regarding our learn to groom your own dog at home class, I have just noticed quite a few emails I have missed and caught up on this morning. If I haven’t replied to you please flick me another email and I will send details. Our first class is on the 14th of February and we will be demonstrating on a Shihtzu mixed breed. If you would like to register for a specific dog breed class let me know and I will put your name on the list for that class. Numbers are limited per class. 🐶🐶 These classes are designed to show you how to groom your dog safety and properly and the correct usage of what tools to use for the job as well as focusing on correct safety procedures.

Protect your dog from deadly parvovirus!

What is Parvo? Canine parvovirus (Parvo) is a highly contagious viral illness that affects dogs, especially puppies. It causes severe vomiting, diarrhoea, and dehydration, often leading to death if untreated.
Parvo virus cases tend to increase in the summer months and A+VET – the dedicated Taranaki Emergency Vet Service has reported seeing more cases after hours in recent weeks. Vaccination is the best way to prevent severe disease and prevent transmission. We are planning on doing a parvo vaccination drive for those that are struggling to have their dogs vaccinated. It is for those that have community service/gold card/student card holders. Puppies need to be 6weeks or older.

⚠️Community Notice - Parvovirus Warning⚠️

𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗩𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗨𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
Currently, we have been treating numerous cases of Parvovirus. This is a very serious viral infection that can lead to severe dehydration and death. Vaccinating your dog is the best way to help prevent canine parvovirus infection.

🐶𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗔 𝗣𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗬 (under 12 months of age)? Have they completed their 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟 vaccination course to cover them for Parvo? This means you have followed the vaccination protocol as advised by your vet and had all required booster vaccinations.

🐶𝗜𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗔𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗧 𝗗𝗢𝗚 𝗨𝗣-𝗧𝗢-𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗥 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗩𝗢 𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡? This means you have followed the vaccination protocol as advised by your vet?

New Plymouth Vet Group’s advice, with the vaccine we currently use, is for puppies to receive at a minimum, their final puppy vaccination at 12 weeks of age. 𝗔 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱. Following this puppy course, a booster vaccination is due in 12 months.

The cost to treat a dog who contracts parvovirus can cost up to $2000 so ensuring your dog is up to date with their vaccination regime is your best prevention method.
