**Let sleeping dogs lie… 💤🐾**

Does anyone else take a ridiculous amount of photos of their dog/s sleeping? 😂

There’s just something about the look of pure contentment on Noki’s face when he’s found his favourite spot, tucked himself under a blanket, head on a pillow, lap or his brother! and completely checked out from the world.

For a dog who spends his waking hours ready for the next walk, adventure, snack, or bit of entertainment, he certainly takes his relaxation seriously. ❤️

And obviously, every slightly different sleeping position requires another photo… because apparently the other 847 photos on my phone aren’t enough. 😂📸

Surely I’m not the only one with a camera roll that’s 90% sleeping dogs?! Show us yours!

These guys absolutely smashed **Scent Seekers Level 1** — and what a seriously good-looking bunch too! 😍

It’s been so much fun watching the dogs (and their humans!) build their confidence and scent work skills, and I’m already looking forward to seeing some of you back for **Level 2 in a couple of weeks!**

Seriously... how gorgeous is this group of dogs?! 😍🐾

What an awesome bunch to have in our latest Polite Pooch course. Every one of these pups (and their humans!) put in so much effort over the past few weeks, and it was fantastic to watch their confidence and skills grow.

🐾 Choosing the Right Dog Walker 🐾

Finding a dog walker isn't just about someone taking your dog for exercise—it's about trusting someone with a much-loved member of your family.

When I'm choosing someone to care for my own dogs, these are the things I look for:

✅ Pet First Aid trained
✅ Extensive experience with dogs of all breeds, ages and temperaments
✅ Excellent knowledge of canine body language and behaviour
✅ Experience with pack management and careful dog selection
✅ Strong situational awareness and the ability to recognise potential risks before they become problems
✅ Matching the dogs to the environment they're being walked in—not every dog is suited to every location or group
✅ Safe handling skills and appropriate management around wildlife, livestock, traffic and the public
✅ Clear communication with owners and a genuine passion for each dog's wellbeing
✅ Appropriate insurance and an emergency plan

A great dog walker is doing far more than throwing leads on and heading out. They're constantly assessing the environment, reading every dog's body language, making decisions about group dynamics, and ensuring every dog has a safe, positive experience.

We're incredibly lucky to have some fantastic dog walkers and pet sitters here in Nelson. While there are several wonderful businesses, my own boys regularly head out with Sarah and the team at wagging_walks_nelson and Liz Hands from . I trust them completely, and they both tick every box I look for when choosing someone to care for my precious dogs. ❤️🐾

What a fantastic group of pups! It's been so much fun watching your confidence, skills and personalities grow over the past few weeks. From learning the basics to building positive social skills, you've all made us so proud! ❤️

A huge thank you to Kim Willis for so kindly donating these beautiful bandanas to our Puppy Preschool participants. They look absolutely adorable, and we know their new owners are going to love them just as much as we do.
