Meet Kelly and Paul, the new owners of Happy Animals! 👋🐕

Kelly brings 25 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, and Paul's background is in construction, managing teams of up to 30 people.

They saw the opportunity to purchase the store, and the more they looked into it, the more excited they got. They officially took over on 7 September, and with three dogs and a cat of their own, it was a natural fit.

The transition has been smooth, with the previous owners Nick and Romana sticking around for two weeks to help them settle in, and the Taradale community welcoming them with open arms.

They've kept the loyalty programme and the same great service customers are used to, with plans to bring back the classic pet shop feel, more livestock like bunnies, and a bit of that nostalgic '80s and '90s charm.

Kelly grew up in Taradale, and they chose to settle back here for the community and the schools. It's that village feel, with locals who genuinely support each other, that's made it such a great fit.

Pop into the store and say hello to Kelly and Paul!

Happy Animalz has some amazing news. We have been nominated and then were selected as the regional finalists for the 2026 Prospa Local Business Hero Award.
We are one of 9 finalists for the National Title!!
The finalists are now up on Neighbourly.co.nz for voting by Poll to decide the Overall Winner.
If you would like to vote click on the link below. I believe you have to sign up to Neighbourly to vote. It's a great place to check out your local businesses and see what experience other people are having there!
We are representing Hawkes Bay and Taradale Village so would be great to support us by voting and boost up our local community.🥰
