A pretty special day for our homebred boy TF Peppertalk! 🐴🏆❤️

Pepper headed out for Day 2 of the Dressage Wairarapa Spring Series yesterday and absolutely exceeded my expectations, winning his first test with 68.75% 🥇 and finishing second in his second test with 63.462% 🥈

That 68.75% feels particularly special! 🥹❤️

The goal today wasn’t really about placings. It was to ride the horse underneath me, stop overthinking and micromanaging everything, and find a little more forward. We’re still working on that last bit 😂, but for the first time I didn’t feel like I spent the whole test kicking and flapping, so I’m calling that a definite win!

There’s something incredibly rewarding about breeding your own horse and then getting to enjoy days like this together. Pepper continues to be such a kind, genuine little horse and an absolute pleasure to take out. 💕🐴

I also had the privilege of representing Horse & Cat Vet Wairarapa and presenting the championship sashes today 🎀🏆, complete with several slightly awkward “besashing” hugs. Apparently sash presentation is a skill I still need to work on! 😂

Huge thanks to all the volunteers who make these days happen, to Louisa Broughton for her generous sponsorship of the series, and to the lovely group of competitors who make these outings so much fun and so supportive.

Very, very proud of my boy. ❤️ Maybe Level 2 isn’t looking quite so scary now... 👀🐎✨

This handsome guy didn't get ridden today but he did spend a bit of time on the lunge. We are working really hard on finding our forward. It's very much a work in progress but to give him his dues, he is quite a smart cookie and tries really hard to please, even if he thinks it is all VERY hard and he is also VERY hungry (always) ... such a pony in a horse body :)

Finally I got myself organised enough to wean last year's foals. Everyone is being very brave and will be let out of the yards tomorrow. Mayo is sold and will be taught to load over the coming weeks with a view to readying him to travel to his new home before Christmas. Corky is still searching for her human so if you're in the market for a fun versatile large pony of the future, give me a shout. Brennan really makes fabulous babies

Pepper went to Hoof Camp and had a blast!! He was a share pony. I stuck to the sandpit, and Katerina and Pepper jumped over sticks

I had a bit of a meltdown this morning and subsequently my day was a bit sub par but these photos and a lovely ride on Pepper really helped. This is Puddles, my beautiful Mouse's Brennan baby. He had a good day with his lovely mum. Won the presented class, walking, youngstock. Reserve champ saddle hunter & sporthorse, reserve champ overall youngstock, today at Brecland spring show 😄. 🏆

It’s that time of year again 🐴✨

I’m starting to plan what my girls will be doing this season, and as always, I’m open to making them available to outside breeders who’d like to use one of my stallions but don’t currently have a mare. If you think you might be interested, now’s the time to reach out before I make final decisions 💬🌱

🌟 Broodmares potentially available this season:

1. Loose Change “Lucy” — 16HH black mare by Centavos 🖤
Proven under saddle (successful Pro Am SJ) and as a broodmare. Correct type, lovely temperament, great feet. Should cross beautifully with either Leo or Brennan.

2. Grassendale Dakota — 14.2HH coloured mare by Nebraska 🎨
Jumped to mini prix before an old injury sidelined her. Proven under saddle and as a broodmare. Big mover, clean limbs, good feet. A little quirky herself, but her foals are consistently sweet‑natured and easy.

3. Glenormiston Lile — 14.1HH purebred Connemara from the legendary Glenormiston stud in Australia🍀
A superstar career broodmare (injured as a foal) with a long history of producing cracking foals. She’s quirky too, but she has given me some truly special youngsters over the years.

4. Mischique “Mag” — 15.1HH crossbred mare by Answer Back x Magic 🌟
Both parents were Horse of the Year/Pony of the Year winners in the 90s so there's some good performance jumping blood plus she is a great mover and so her kids with Brennan have all got fabulous paces. Her progeny that are under saddle are multi‑champion show hunters, jumpers, eventers — fantastic all‑round kids’ large ponies. Mag is currently living her best life with a lovely family, but I’d love to get one more foal from her before she retires.

All mares are empty and ready to go this spring!

Today the Pepperoni Pony yeeted himself over some wee jumps like an absolute weapon, beautifully chauffeured by Kačí — who, by the way, hasn’t properly jumped in about eight years and had major spinal surgery a couple of years ago so is basically held together by grit, titanium, and sheer determination.

She was understandably nervous, but Pepper said "hold my b**r! I got this!" and off they went. I was bursting with pride watching them.

It almost made me consider having a crack at jumping him myself… almost. Let’s not get carried away. But also… watch this space :)
