🌟 Volunteer of the Month - Celebrating Our Recent Winners 🌟

We’ve got some incredible volunteers to celebrate and while we’re a little late sharing, they are more than deserving of the spotlight 💙🐾

June - Ray
Ray is always there when we need him. He never misses a day and is always willing to jump in and help with anything. From lending a hand at our drive-through food giveaway to working patiently with our more nervous dogs, Ray brings kindness, patience, and a calm presence that’s felt by staff, dogs, and volunteers alike. An all-round epic human!

July - Helen
Helen is a hugely dedicated volunteer who the feline team can always rely on. She consistently shows up, goes above and beyond, and takes on additional responsibilities without hesitation. Helen works to a high standard, is incredibly capable, and requires very little direction, a truly valued part of the team.

August - Sue
Sue was absolutely invaluable at our recent Adoption Day at Pet Direct Mt Roskill. From unloading the van and setting up, to helping with applications, handling kittens, and cleaning cages. She jumped in from the very start and kept things running smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without her!

Thank you all for the amazing mahi you do for the animals in our care! We are so lucky to have you as part of our volunteer community 💙

Important message for cat owners – we have more Snip ‘n’ Chip vouchers available now! 🙌😺

From Wednesday 2 September, we’re working with local participating veterinary clinics, Auckland Council and six Local Boards, to offer this service to cat owners who live close to cat-sensitive biodiversity areas.

Snip ‘n’ Chip vouchers in this campaign help those living near threatened species sites get their cat desexed and microchipped for FREE! 🎉🩵

We’d like to give a huge shoutout to these clinics and community partners for helping us to make this possible!

Bookings are now open – check the link to see if vouchers are available in your area, and register today: https://book.spcadesexing.nz/

A limited number of vouchers are available for selected areas, and the cat being desexed must reside in one of the eligible postcodes. If your cat is already desexed, you can get a voucher for microchipping only.

By desexing cats, we can stop unwanted litters and prevent suffering before it occurs 🙏 Join us in making desexing and microchipping a priority in our community!

Our gentle giant Ginny has been with us for nearly three months, patiently waiting for her forever home. This beautiful girl stole the hearts of everyone at the Mangere Centre the day she arrived and we can't believe she is still with us. Although she is loved and thriving in her foster home, it's time Ginny found her forever home. Here's what her foster family has to say about her.

"She has really grown in confidence over the past few weeks (being very food motivated helps) and is incredibly cuddly and getting better at warming up to new people quicker. Her lead training is getting better too, she sometimes gets a bit excited when she sees other dogs but is responding well to recall training. She is absolutely ready for her forever home and we will be very very very sad to see her go. We have had 15 foster dogs and she is by far our favourite and the closest we have come to foster failing!"

If you would like to meet her, please click on her adoption profile link
