NCKA is delighted to announce that the Executive Council of Dogs NZ has again approved our request to conduct Limited entry shows over Easter next year (2027).
You will recall that after our shows this year we asked what you thought about them and with one or two exceptions, it appears to us that everyone liked the relaxed atmosphere and early finishes.
For 2026 we have also taken on board your requests for a Baby Puppy Class as well and so the classes in 2027 will be…….
Group 1 – 2 – 3 – 4
Best Toy Puppy in Show
Best Terrier Puppy in Show
Best Gundog Puppy in Show
Best Hound Puppy in Show
Best Working Puppy in Show
Best Utility Puppy in Show
Best Non Sporting Puppy in Show
Best Toy Baby Puppy in Show
Best Terrier Baby Puppy in Show
Best Gundog Baby Puppy in Show
Best Hound Baby Puppy in Show
Best Working Baby Puppy in Show
Best Utility Baby Puppy in Show
Best Non Sporting Baby Puppy in Show
In 2027 the Stakes classes will be Puppy 4-12 months, Breeders/Owner/Handler, NZ Bred, Neuter/Spayed
We have also taken on board your request to have the entries open MUCH earlier (so that visitors can make arrangements) and hope to have the schedule out next month (September)
In the meantime though we can tell you that we have contracted three GREAT JUDGES – Geoff Blyth from Tasmania; and Ian Rassmussen & Louise Dorr from Queensland. Remember they will judge all groups and all dogs over the two days, so nobody misses out.
Our Stakes Judge will be announced later on.
Mark your calendars now………… 26th & 27th March 2027!

And BTW - remember our fabulous rosettes for BIS and BIS2 last year....... well we have ordered the WHOLE SHOW from the same source for 2027. AND we will NOT be withdrawing prize money - we will be offering our normal generous prize money for Group and In Show - plus of course Easter Eggs and Easter Buns for BOB!!

Those of you who remember John judging for NCKA on 2 or 3 occasions will be saddened by this news. A great guy with a wonderful sense of humour.

Rosario Can Club deeply regrets the passing of John Rowton. An excellent judge, but above all, a great friend and a person dearly loved by our members. Despite the distance, he always stayed close, constantly ready to come to Rosario and generously offer us his help whenever requested. John was a true collaborator of our club.
We will forever hold immense gratitude for his friendship, his generosity, and everything he shared with us over the years.
We send our warmest regards and sincere condolences to Michelle and her entire family, standing by them in this time of deep sorrow.

So it’s over for 2026 (phew!) and it’s taken a couple of weeks to recover.

First and foremost congratulations to Kathryn Stewart and Pip Graham for scooping the pool! What a weekend they had! Also congratulations to all the other winners – it was no nice to see different line-ups for each judge.

Thank you so much to all the people who gave us compliments about thinking outside the square and putting on three nice, relaxed, fun shows.

I also have to thank our small committee – 3 of us are pushing 80, one is in her 60s and we have a couple of Generation Xs! That’s all!! Every year Sue Swift not only does all the money matters, but also gets the judges lunches on show days. She is a GEM! Doug is always there to do whatever he is asked to do and we can’t do without him. This year we also had Anna and Jennifer and they were worth their weight in gold, organising all the sponsors product and Jen even Stewarded! New Committee member Mike Stewart took over the public catering with the South Island Hound Club and made a wonderful job of it! Then there is Kaz, without whom we just would not have a show. Kaz does all the entries and is Show Secretary on the day. Also a big thank you to Anne Deery who organised our Stewards for us – thank you so much, we love having you and your team! Thank you guys!

So that bring us to 2027. Our Committee (small) will meet to decide what we want to do for 2027. I have to say that organising this year was much less trouble than our normal 7-judge efforts of previous years. But you are the punters and so now we want to know what YOU want.
