We’re full-time Animal Control Officers, so replies might be a little slower after hours We often have dogs of all shapes and sizes looking for their forever homes! 🐶💛

You’ll usually find our available dogs in the first few posts on our page. Quick rundown of how it all works:

1️⃣ See a dog that seems like a great fit for you and your lifestyle.
2️⃣ Complete our adoption application form.
3️⃣ If we think you’re a good match, we’ll invite you for a meet & greet.
4️⃣ If all goes well, your new friend heads home on trial.
5️⃣ And if it goes really well — congratulations, adoption complete! 🎉🐾
Our team are full-time Animal Control Officers (and part-time treat dispensers 😄), so we’re not always able to reply to messages after hours or on weekends. Thanks for understanding — and for helping give our dogs their second chance! 💛


All adoptions meet ups are strictly by appointment only, we are not open to the public to come and view dogs outside of this.

Little miss headed off to a fabulous foster home just around the corner from us this morning! 🥰❤️

The lovely couple recently lost their previous SPCA rescue and have been a little unsure whether the time is right to welcome another family member. Fostering is the perfect way to take the pressure off and see how things go, without any commitment just yet. ❤️

And who knows… if all goes well, we might just have a little foster fail on our hands! 😉🐾

A huge thank you to our friends at Masterpet New Zealand for supplying free Black Hawk Pet Care New Zealand age appropriate food for our trial dogs, so they can head off to their new homes with the same great food they’ve been enjoying at the shelter! ❤️🐾

Meet this gorgeous little girl! 🥹💕

🐾 Female, Staffy x Boxer type 🐾 Approximately 8 weeks old

Found just over a week ago, this little sweetheart is now looking for a new family to call her own. She’s adorable, sweet, friendly, fun and cuddly… basically, a whole lot of puppy love in one tiny package! 🥰

She’s currently patiently waiting for a space at the SPCA, who are always amazing at helping out with little pups when they find themselves in our shelter. ❤️

Like all rescues though, they’re currently full, so we’re hoping there might be someone out there who can foster her for up to a week while they find a space for her. She’ll be so much happier out of the shelter, where she can relax, enjoy some home comforts and start learning all about the big wide world!

And who knows… you might just fall in love and become a foster fail! 😉💗

We’ll supply EVERYTHING she needs, including a crate, food, bed and all the essentials, and we’ll cover any veterinary treatment she may need. You just need to provide the love, care and cuddles!

A few important things to know:

🏡 A fully fenced property is a must.
🧭 Lower Hutt/Wellington region foster homes only please
☀️ Ideally, someone who is home during the day.
💉 She isn’t fully vaccinated yet, so she’ll need to stay on the foster property.
🐕 Another friendly, vaccinated dog may be okay, but as this is likely to be a short-term arrangement, a home with no other pets or young children may be easier.

And one last thing… puppies are AMAZING, but they can also be HARD WORK! 😂

She’s obviously used to spending some time on her own overnight at the shelter, but we can’t guarantee she won’t have a few things to say about being in her crate to start with. Let’s just say those puppy dog eyes might come with a little soundtrack! 🎶🤣

These tiny little ones, just 5 days old, came into work needing round-the-clock care and attention. 🐶🍼

Thankfully, HUHANZ stepped in without hesitation, and the pups are now thriving in their care! ❤️

We cannot thank HUHA enough for stepping up for these precious babies and giving them the best possible start in life. We know that when they’re big enough and ready, they’ll find the most amazing homes. 🏡💕

Spring has truly sprung! 🌞🐣🌱

These little guys found themselves stuck down a stormwater drain. I didn’t have a net with me, so improvised with whatever I could find in the van 😂

Mum was hanging around nearby, so after a few rounds of dunking, all 7 were happily reunited and safely back in the stream. 🥰🦆

A huge thank you to our lovely K9 Uber, Liz, who is always happy to help transport our dogs — and today, two adorable little puppies — over the hill! 🐶🐶❤️

Even the horrendous weather didn’t put her off! 🌧️😂

We’re so grateful these two unclaimed pups are now safely in the care of the amazing team at SPCA Wellington/Wairarapa Masterton, where we’re sure they’ll be snapped up and into loving new homes very soon.

“Pete”, as we named him, was found wandering around a month ago and no one came forward looking for him.

It didn’t take long for Pete to win us all over! He is such a lovely, happy boy and very quickly became a staff favourite… honestly, he could do no wrong! 😂❤️

We contacted the wonderful team at Retired Working Dogs NZ Charitable Trust who quickly found Pete an amazing foster home nearby.

Pete settled in beautifully and even made a new best friend in his foster home — a fellow rescue Huntaway! 🐕🐕

** Pete has already found a new home and they are going to be incredibly lucky to welcome this lovely gent into their lives! ❤️🐾

💕 Ella’s Happy Ever After 💕

Beautiful little Ella came in to see us today, and little did she know that after a few weeks on trial, today was the day she was officially adopted! ❤️

Her new mum and dad are absolutely smitten with her — and she absolutely adores them too. It really is the perfect match. 🐾

This is exactly what dog ownership should be: simply enjoying each other’s company, loving hanging out together, and having fun doing all the little things that make life with a dog so special. ❤️

Sometimes a match just feels meant to be, and this was definitely one of those times. Ella has found her people, and they have found their girl. We couldn’t be happier for them all! ❤️🐾

We don’t usually share posts for other dogs as they generally get plenty of coverage, but I’ve met this girl personally and she is **LOVELY!** ❤️

I met her while she was out with one of her pack walkers, assessing her for potential detection work. She has fantastic play, search and food drive, but gets distracted a little too easily for Aviation Security or similar work.

That said, with the right owner willing to put in the time, I’ve no doubt she’d absolutely thrive in scentwork or tracking.

If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky adventure buddy who is incredibly dog- and people-friendly, she could be the girl for you! 🐾

And by crikey, is she **QUICK!** 😂 This girl could easily outrun my Elsa! 🏃‍♀️
