This week’s cute animal is a mouse! Well, three pet mice actually. They came in to be neutered so they can live together as companions without fighting. Here are two of them recovering in some cosy baby socks 🩷🥹

What are we doing about Bird Flu? Central Hutt Vets is keeping a close eye on the situation and following all guidance & updates from MPI, DOC, and the Vet Council of NZ. For now, we will be risk-screening all bird appointments, so please call first if you have a bird needing attention!

MPI has received a sharp rise in reports of sick or dead birds, with 157 notifications in a single day as New Zealanders respond to warnings over bird flu. No new cases have been confirmed this morning.

We love bunnies & Guineas at Central Hutt Vets 🐇🩷 So we included a dedicated ‘exotics’ ward for them in our new clinic design - because prey species don’t enjoy being in with cats and dogs, especially when they are not feeling well! We use best-practice methods and offer de-sexing and dentistry for most small mammal species, rabbit vaccinations, and care for sick pets (e.g. gut stasis). We also grow our own grass & parseley especially for our patients 🌱🍃😊

POSITION FILLED! Receptionist needed! Have you or someone you know always wanted to work in a vet clinic? We are looking for a receptionist to help us deal with our busy workflow. Duties include making bookings, taking payments, chatting with clients, and admiring the cute kittens & puppies 😊 There is some light cleaning required as well.
