🐾 A NEW CHAPTER FOR WAGS PET HOTEL & DOGGY DAYCARE 🐾
After 16 wonderful years, the time has come for Lisa and Martyn to hang up the Wags leads and hand over the treat jar!
We are delighted to announce that Wags Pet Hotel & Doggy Daycare has been sold to Dr Nadine Bisset BVSc, who will be taking over the reins and leading Wags into an exciting new chapter.
For 16 years, Wags has been a huge part of our lives. We have welcomed thousands of dogs through our doors, along with our many feline guests who have enjoyed their holidays with us too. We have watched puppies grow into old friends, welcomed families back year after year, made some wonderful friendships and, of course, handed out more treats, cuddles and belly rubs than we could ever count.
To all of our clients, past and present, THANK YOU.
Thank you for trusting us with such important members of your families. We have never taken that responsibility lightly, and it has been an absolute privilege to care for your dogs and cats over all these years.
We are also very pleased to tell you that Debra will be staying on at Wags, so there will continue to be a familiar face greeting both you and your pets.
And we couldn't be happier about handing Wags over to Nadine.
Nadine is a Massey University qualified veterinarian with an extensive background in companion animal health and welfare, including the care of both dogs and cats.
Born and bred in Napier, Nadine graduated from Massey University in 2000. She worked in companion animal clinics in Wellington and Havelock North before taking some time away for family commitments.
She later returned to her career as a Government Veterinarian for 16 years, 14 of which included the role of BESTPractice auditor for the New Zealand Veterinary Association. During this time she also held the position of Animal Welfare Inspector for MPI.
Dogs, however, have always been a huge part of Nadine's life. She has been heavily involved in dog sports for more than 30 years, initially working her beloved Golden Retrievers in Obedience, Agility, Working Trials and Scent Work. Today she breeds and shows Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and has also embarked on her judging career.
Despite Nadine's heavy involvement in the dog world, her heart — and apparently her household — is completely ruled by Nero, her wonky, tail-less ex-welfare-case black cat.
Brimming with personality and clearly quite convinced of his own importance, Nero is most likely going to rapidly adopt the position of Chief Overseer of All Happenings at Wags. We suspect Nadine may technically own the business, but Nero will have his own ideas about who is actually in charge! 🐈⬛
So, as you can imagine, Wags is going to someone who truly understands animals, their people and the very special relationship between them.
We won't be disappearing overnight either. Lisa and Martyn will continue to support Nadine over the next few months to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
Nadine already has some really exciting ideas and developments planned for Wags Pet Hotel & Doggy Daycare, and we are looking forward to watching the next chapter unfold.
So this isn't really goodbye — it's simply a changing of the guard... and the person holding the treat jar! 🐾
