Diva will contest Race 3 at Woodville this Friday over 1400m. Our original plan was to step her up to 1600m for this start. However, the Central District calendar did not provide a suitable option. Because it has now been just over a month since her last run, we have no choice to remain at the 1400m distance. Leading Matamata apprentice Hayley Hassman is making the trip down to Woodville to reunite with the mare. Hayley partnered Diva in her only ride aboard her last preparation, finishing a close second at Te Aroha. Best of luck to Hayley and Diva. 🤞🤞

Our stable veteran, Hey Hey Hey, produced an eye-catching performance to finish third after coming from the rear of the field in the opening hurdle race at Trentham today. Ridden patiently by new replacement rider Bradley Rantall, he has kicked off his winter jumping campaign in good fashion over the smaller fences. While a win proved just out of reach today, this maiden hurdle assignment was intended as a seasonal launching pad, with the primary long-term objectives for the veteran lying over the larger fences later this winter steeplechase season. After today's effort, a win in a maiden hurdle may not be out of reach either! 🤔 Good Effort Albert! ❤️

Our stable veteran Hey Hey Hey kicks off his winter jumping campaign this Wednesday at Trentham, stepping out in the opening event for the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting. The nine-year-old , affectionately known in the stable as Fat Albert, lines up in the $20,000 Maiden Hurdle over 2500 metres. Wednesday's hurdle assignment serves as a launching pad for the season. The primary long-term objectives for our old campaigner lie over the larger fences this winter.

It's all go this week on the racing front. Albert is also back, gearing up for another successful jumping campaign this up coming season. He kicks off his preparation this Sunday with a run on the flat over 2050m at Tauherenikau. A nice starting point with bigger targets over fences on his agenda. We’re pleased to have apprentice Toni Davies back in the saddle for Westridge Racing after she rode Button Ya Lip with merit at Woodville on Wednesday.. Toni claims 2kgs reducing Alberts carded weight down to 53kg.

Diva returned to the races today at Woodville, delivering a meritorious performance fresh. After a long layoff, we were very happy with her effort. Ridden well by apprentice Toni Davies, Toni settled Diva beautifully beyond midfield from her wide draw. She improved approaching the turn but copped a little knock early in the straight. But once balanced up, she flashed home late to finish a close up 4th. Overall, it was a very encouraging run to build on.

After a 10-month hiatus, Diva returns to the races this Wednesday at Woodville. She looks to have returned a much stronger mare this time in so we are hopeful she can find that elusive maiden win at some stage this season, after multiple second placings last prep. This run will give us an indication of her fitness level as apprentice Toni Davies takes the reins on Diva for her fresh up run claiming 2kgs.
