Competitive, sharp, and willing to please, Nellie is the ultimate mare for someone looking to further produce their next superstar!
Off the track since she was a 2-year-old, Nellie has been brought on slowly and carefully. She's only recently begun her "sport horse" training over the past year. At just her third ever show, she jumped a clear round in the 90cm with ease and showed scope to spare. With more time and schooling, she would be right at home in the Amateur Rider classes.
Nellie continues to improve with every outing. She stands happily at the float, is a pleasure to ride on the flat, and is beginning to establish lateral movements. She has an exceptional brain, learns quickly, and has the potential to excel in any discipline. Naturally brave with fill and cross-country fences, she doesn’t bat an eye. A jump is a jump to Nellie! She shows excellent potential as an eventer.
She's great with dogs, motorbikes, and kids, shes often cooled down in the arena by my 1.5-year-old son on the lead rein. Good to float, shoe, handle, etc.
While Nellie is a truly exceptional mare, she is still green and will need a rider experienced with Thoroughbreds or young horses. She is not suitable as a first hack. Though confident in the arena and show ring, she can become nervous hacking out, especially in open spaces and when alone (she’s much better in warm-up areas or with a buddy). With time and trust, this is improving. However, we feel she would thrive best in a competitive home or with a confident rider who has company when hacking. Our dairy farm lifestyle just isn’t the right fit for her.
Best suited to a competitive teen or adult rider wanting a quality, well-started mare to produce further.
