We’re experts in listening, advising and supporting optimal animal health in both livestock and pets. Farmfirst & Petfirst Veterinary Leeston operates in tandem with the vets in Lincoln. Our team of Leeston vets is made up throughout the working week of 4 veterinarians, 3 companion animals veterinarian and 1 large animal veterinarian. As well as 2 vet nurses and our clinic coordinator.

We were lucky to have Lloyd Smith join us for the day, sharing his knowledge and demonstrating working dogs at different stages of their training.

It was great to see so many people come along and get involved. A big thank you to Lloyd for sharing his time and experience with us, and to everyone who joined us on the day.

We’d also like to thank Black Hawk Pet Care New Zealand and Beef + Lamb New Zealand for their support in putting the day together.

You’ll often find Liv out and about across the district, working alongside our local farmers and looking after animals both big and small (although usually on the bigger side!). 🌱

From routine herd health and preventative care to those unexpected calls when something isn’t quite right, no two days on farm are ever quite the same.

Some patients just need a little extra love 🐾

Not every dog feels completely at home in a vet clinic, and sometimes the best medicine is a change of scenery, a bit of company and some extra attention from the team.

Whether it’s hanging out with us in reception, supervising the paperwork, joining a staff meeting or simply finding a cozy spot away from the kennels, we’re always happy to make a few adjustments to help our patients feel more comfortable during their stay. 🐶

These gorgeous cats have all recently visited the Petfirst team for desexing - an important part of responsible pet ownership. 💚

Desexing not only helps prevent unwanted litters but can also reduce roaming and fighting behaviors and lower the risk of certain health problems.

It’s also the perfect opportunity to make sure your cat is microchipped! A microchip provides permanent identification, giving you and your cat the best chance of being reunited if they ever go missing. 🐾

🐄💙 A little leg, a lot of TLC!

This little one recently came into the clinic with a broken leg. Thankfully, after a careful assessment, we were able to stabilise the leg with a splint and bandage to give it the support it needs while it heals.

The good news? The prognosis is looking really positive! 🎉

Now it’s all about rest, plenty of TLC and giving that little leg the time it needs to heal. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this little fighter as they make their way back to four strong legs. 🐄🩵

Sometimes even our tough rural patients need a little extra helping hand! 👩‍⚕️
