SPCA Wellington/Wairarapa The SPCA has been in Wellington for over 130 years and now has pride of place in the old Fever Hospital in the Green belt in Newtown on Mount Victoria.

KITTEN SEASON HAS BEGUN :)
The Masterton Centre has received 21 kittens into care in the past 8 days!
If you have been patiently wating for a kitten to join your family, the wait is nearly over.
We are expecting these cuties to be ready for their new families in a couple of weeks. All SPCA kittens are vet checked, desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations before adoption.

Because she can find the world a bit overwhelming, Azul is looking for a calm home with adults or older, dog-savvy children aged 12 and over. She would also prefer to be your only pet so she can settle in and feel secure ❤️

💙🐱Kitten season has officially started for Masterton SPCA! 🐱💙

Our first mum cat and kittens of the 2026/2027 kitten season have arrived and thankfully, they were able to head straight into a loving foster home 🥰

But they’re just the beginning.

Over the coming months, there will be many more cats and kittens coming through our doors. We’ll see mum cats with their kittens, kittens without their mums, sick and vulnerable kittens needing extra care, and unsocial kittens who need time and patience to learn that people can be trusted 💕

Our foster families play such an important role in helping these animals get the care they need. 🏡❤️

We have some wonderful foster carers already, but it would be fantastic to add more people to our team this kitten season. Having more foster homes available means we can help more cats and kittens when they need us most, while giving them the chance to thrive in a safe and loving home environment.

You don’t need to be an expert, we’ll offer support, guidance and advice every step of the way. We also provide all of the equipment and supplies needed ✅️

If you have a safe space, some time to spare and love to give, fostering could make a huge difference to a cat or kitten in need. ❤️

For our Inspectors, every day brings a new set of challenges. Their work is extremely varied, and it's not always about enforcement. Sometimes, it's about helping people and animals access the support they need.

Meet Carrots 🥕🐰 While Carrots had a loving owner, circumstances meant they were no longer able to care for him. Our Inspectors were able to assist with surrendering Carrots into SPCA's care, ensuring he could continue to receive the support he needed.

Wacky is currently in foster waiting to be adopted through the Masterton SPCA ✨

His fosterer writes:

He is great with all his foster brothers...sleeps in his crate at night. Respectful to his older canine family...loves his tennis ball & enjoys his afternoons naps in the sun. Very food motivated so very easy to train. No separation anxiety & can easily be left at home with another dog for 4/5 hrs very comfortably. Like most puppies everything gets the mouth test 🤣

Can you give 2 hours of your time for the animals? 🐶🐱

We need volunteer street collectors for our Fill the Bucket street appeal, which is taking place on 30 and 31 October all around the country!

What's involved:
👉 Just 2 hours of your time (or more if you like) on either Friday 30 or Saturday 31 October
👉 Working in pairs at a collection site in your area, collecting donations from the public
👉 You'll be provided with the collection bucket, bibs, and stickers.
👉 You're welcome to bring your dog with you! Just remember to bring their water bowl and bags.

Every cent donated from our Fill the Bucket street appeal goes back to the thousands of animals that we help each year. This is a critical fundraiser, and we couldn't do it without our collection volunteers!

Great news for Wellington dog owners! 🎉 We've got another free Dog Health Event coming up on Saturday 10 October, so make sure you register in advance!

We'll be offering:
💉 Free vaccinations
🐶 Free parasite treatment
📍 Free microchipping

This SPCA Dog Health Event will be held at St Patrick's College in Silverstream from 9:30am - 2:30pm on 10 October. The vaccinations and parasite treatments will be available while stocks last!
