BORON

Why don’t we add Boron to our formula?

Boron is a non essential nutrient that has some real benefits for some species, especially those that don’t ferment to digest.
Why?
Boron is a powerful anti-fungal agent. So powerful that it is used to protect wood from mould in the timber industry. As little as 10mg is enough to cause a significant candida die off reaction in a human!

Given that horses ferment to digest and a healthy horse has good yeast growing in their hind-gut, feeding Boron can upset this delicate balance.
It should never be added to an equine supplement due to its potential to effect the hind gut.

Certainly there is argument for using it temporarily for a horse with candida overgrowth or a horse repairing bone after injury, but it’s not something we advise to feed normally.

On another note, for humans who are not fermenters and who do not want yeast in their system, it’s a useful supplement to add. It’s controls candida and biofilms and has a significant anti inflammatory action on joints.
