Just home from a fantastic weekend at the National Cat Show in Christchurch
So proud of Denise Barron's "Sunset Freud" who was overall Supreme Winner of the show .
Freud is such a showman who just loves a crowd to appreciate him much to the amusement of a lot of people at the show
We all dream of having a cat like that in the show ring

How I wish that I could repeat that mating of 4 kittens who turned out so well .
However Freud's sister " Sunset La Vie en Rose"lives with my good friend Bradley Jones of Kalizma Cattery in Melbourne.
She has kittens at present so of course sometime soon Freud with have his niece arriving to join my cat family and maybe for me to show next show season.
I also owe so much to Jean -Pierre Filppi. of des Nesmes Cattery in France who sent me such beautiful cats many years ago that are now in all my cat's pedigrees
Together with Bradley's help we are getting there!
Of course one is always trying to breed something special and I am so lucky. to have studs that pass on their good nature.
Also It was great catching up with old friends that I have not seen for a very long time and a lot of pet owners who are now good friends
I had an entry in the kitten section, a black smoke boy only 4 months old "Sunset Braveheart" (Bruce ) who did so well and was in the top 10 in several rings . 28 kittens were entered
My biggest thrill was Ring 3 With judge Phillipa Perkins who awarded him the BAM (Breeders Award of Merit) even though he was not in the Top 10 .
Becasue I have been besotted with my Cornish Rex for about 30 years it was great to see somone appreciate Bruce who is the equivalent of a human teenager with his antics and who loves being on the move and thinks he should be inclued in all activities.
Also thank you Phillipa for his lovely rosette as judge's choice you made my day

Many thanks to Debbie Mason and Denise Barron for the marvellous photos taken at Mid Island show last week.
We had a great weekend with all three cats placing and of course Denise's Sunset Freud Supreme Shorthair.
Debbie's "Sunset Backberry Lace " first in one ring.
I had the baby "Sunset Braveheart " just 4 months and 2 weeks and he was Runner Up BIS in one ring. I was thrilled how he behaved

Why do I choose Cornish Rex?

Because it's one of the most underrated breeds. And to be honest — a bit wrong.

They are not talked about enough. Rarely do they appear "in sight".
But people who have lived with a Cornish Rex at least once rarely return to other breeds.

It's not "just a cat".
It's character, energy and a true connection.

The Cornish Rex is extremely people-oriented. He’s not working beside you — He’s with you. In touch, in motion, in everyday life.
He wants to be in your world.

Their looks are not for everyone — wavy fur, slender silhouette, big ears.
But it is in this difference that their strength lies.
They're not like the others — and they don't try to be.

It's a race of heat — literally and emotionally.
They seek closeness, contact, they love to be next to you, sleep next to you, take part in everything you do.

The Cornish Rex is not a choice for people looking for a "cat on the couch".
But if you're looking for a true companion, this may be just the one.

And maybe it's because they're not massive — they go to the people who choose consciously

The four kittens now three weeks old and almost ready to climb out of the nest.

Finally my new "car" arrived last week A Rolls Royce Of course !!
After so many delays , almost a year. I am lucky to have the most beautful girl from Chloe Leroux of Kitty Comere Cornish Rex iin Florida .
Because my good friend Bradley Jones of Kalizma Cattery in Melbourne who like me studies pedigrees and has helped me so much over many many years to breed the type of Cornish rex that we love
Kitty Comere Amnerican Beauty has settled in so well and I look forward to her producing amazing kittens in future.
Her pedigree contains lines that I have followed for years

Other news : A litter of 4 born 5th April 3 boys and 1 girl .Fat little kittens with heaps of baby coat A tabby boy, love his spotted tummy . A black bicolour boy with a moustache. a blue boy (reserved) and a lilac bicolour girl

Today preparing for cyclone vaianu's arrival in New Zealand.
No doubt the numerous trees and shrubs in my garden will suffer but a true sign of autumn is Hibiscus Mutablis with its flowers that change from white to deep pink in a day..
It loves this humid weather.
Because they have predicted 200mm of rain and gale force winds of up to 140mph I investd in a new pair of gumboots.
Just hope the water in not too high for them !
Meanwhile all the animals are warm and dry
Unfortunately I had to miss the Taranaki show because not certain whether it would clear in time for me to fly home
Hoping that everyone is safe now that a state of emergency has been. declared

Blacksmoke bicolour . Such a laidback boy , he likes to be with you all the time
He is bigger than his two brothers as you will see in the photos.
His coat as already started to show at 11weeks so he should have a fantastic coat like his father

We had such fun and REALLY appreciated their different comments as it makes me look at at the kittens in a different light(although I love them all as part of my family)!
Good to see Alicia Deacon with her neutered kitten "Sunset Just Call Me Larry"
They say that temperaments are inherited thru' the sire so all 5 kittens were by "Brz Dbl Gd. Ch. Sunset Peter Piper"
He is retired from the show ring now but justas laidback as ever.

The 3 kittens are now 8 wks old and had their first vet check and vaccination
The smoke gene is already showing so as both parents carry it so that will be more visible as they grow.
They are a very active trio!
