Environmentally Conscious, dedicated to ongoing professional growth and development. A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF & CHATEAU DE CHIENS

Born in England but moved to (WA) Australia in 1977. Spending the last 20+ years in the beautiful heritage City of Albany. I have always been surrounded by dogs, with my earliest memory of a German Shepherd named Sheba. I formalized my love for grooming at the WA Groomi

ng Academy and then went on to participate in as many workshops as I could. Including, but not limited to:

Asian Fusion – Pammie Carmichael-Hogg (UK)
Asian Fusion – May Wong (NSW)
Asian Fusion – Valerie Khoo (Malaysia)
Poodle Grooming – Jacki Ainsworth (WA)
Poodle Grooming – Mellissa Bouffant (WA)
Seminar - Angela Anderson (NZ)

During lockdown, I have participated in Virtual Grooming Competitions (as I get anxious in crowds) including:

MasterGroom UK 2020
MasterGroom Canada 2021
Maryland Grooming Comp 2021

In one of my many lives I qualified as a Complementary Therapist, and am passionate about finding ways to work around physical and emotional states that interfere with a dog experiencing an enjoyable grooming experience. In 2020 I enrolled, and became a Certified Fear Free Groomer with IMDT (International Modern Dog Trainers) and completed the Perfect Puppy Training Course. I now live in New Zealand. Looking beyond the haircut... There is so much more to a holistic, professional groom. Understanding the skin, coat and the effect stress and diet has on a dogs' entire wellbeing is a passion.
Complementary Therapies became an important part of my life more than 40 years ago and I am delighted to be able to move back into my comfort zone with our precious animals.
I already use reiki and massage as a part of each groom but will over the next few months be introducing 'healing time' as a separate set of services.
An essential need for all animals, we will be focussing our energy at working with those in our community, here in Northland.
