It’s that time of year again! 🎆

Guy Fawkes is on the 5th of November every year — but as many of us know, it’s never just one night!
Every year, I end up helping find lost animals because of fireworks, and honestly, it breaks my heart. So, let’s work together to keep our furry (and feathered!) friends safe. 💕

Fireworks cause significant fear and distress to animals — that’s a fact.
Here are a few simple ways to help keep them calm and secure:

🐾 Check microchips and details:
Make sure your pets are microchipped and that their info is up to date in the Companion Animal Register. This includes dogs, cats, horses and even rabbits!

🐾 Prepare early:
Exercise your pets before dark, bring them indoors if possible, close the curtains, and pop on some white noise or calming music.

🐾 Talk to your vet:
If your pet gets extremely anxious, your vet can help with medication or other strategies to reduce stress.

🐾 If you’re setting off fireworks:
Please let your neighbours know so they can prepare too — or even better, head to a public display or the beach where it’s safer for everyone.

I love watching the sky light up as much as the next person, but let’s be considerate and kind this season. If you need guidance on keeping your animals safe, just ask — I’m always happy to help! 🐶🐱🐰

📢 Exciting Update! 🐾

Does anyone else find admin extremly overwhelming 😅 I’m now using a new booking system to help keep everything running smoothly. From now on, you’ll receive appointment reminders and messages directly through the system.

You’ll also be able to create your own account to:
✅ Request new appointments
✅ Reschedule or cancel easily
✅ Get automatic reminders so nothing gets missed

➡️ Please note: You don’t have to sign up if you’d rather not. It is not a requirement for my services. You can still book appointments with me the same way as always — through Facebook, Instagram, or by phone. This new system simply helps me keep track of client records and notes more easily.

I’ll be sending invites out shortly for anyone who’d like to give it a try — it only takes a minute to set up.

If you do not get an invite that may be due to me missing you on the client list. Please reach out so I can add you in.

Thank you all for your continued support 💜 This upgrade should make scheduling and communication much easier for everyone.

NZCAR and microchip notice:

I have always aimed to have the lowest cost for microchipping and NZCAR registration and as you may know I do this service free and you only pay for the cost of the microchip and NZCAR registration.

From the 1st of April NZCAR will be increasing the price of registration on top of the already increased microchip cost. Initially this won't effect any of you who are already booked in for Microchipping. Unfortunatly I will have to follow the trend and charge an increase. So as of the 7th of April microchipping will now be $35 per animal.

I have returned a few animals home this year and that's thanks to there being so many of you registered on NZCAR. I do not have access to NDD (National dog data base) and cats don't have another home for registration. So keep spreading the word that microchipping is affordable and accessible.

Hey team! Reflection post ahead...

How is everyone doing in the community? It has been a rough week here at VN2U. I don't always have the strength to share or accept the pain of loosing clients, or their animals or even my own. But loss comes with the job and it's something I've learned to navigate. This year already I have had to say goodbye to 5 elderly dogs, 2 elderly cats 1 elderly client and just this week 1 dog and a sheep. It's one of the hardest parts of my job, especially when I have to give the initial bad news or there isnt anything I can do to help.

Every year I complete 40hours of cpd for companion animals and rural tech, every month I study up on the preventative health cares available to the veterinary industry in NZ and every week I work with a variety of needs within the industry. While I know a majority of you only have nice things to say, it's your feedback that matters to me the most. I can't improve my services if I don't know where the improvements are needed. I dont pretend to be the best at what I do, and sometimes I make mistakes, but I hope you all see my passion for providing the best I am. So I guess what I'm asking you all is, what can I do better? How can I improve mobile vet nursing for you? Are there any services you want to see more of? Is there a need in the community for another service? Am I giving you enough time for services? Do you feel heard during consults? Do you feel I need more training in a certain area? I might not always have the solution to your questions but I do always do my best to find one.

Kiaora Team!

This a bit of a unusal post, but I feel it my duty to inform you of the following.

Fb is a very scary and accessible place to a person's private life, because of this I have removed my work page and personal page from the invercargill community pages so you will no longer be able to tag me on them when people are looking for animal care providers. My page can still be shared and I am still able to be messaged privately. Unfortunatly an individual has made it her life goal to deform my name and business by now targeting potential and new clients through their private messages, and I certainly do not wish this upon any of you, she is dangerous and should not be engaged with. This matter is currently with the police and has been going on for some time. I am so very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and I assure you this does not effect my business or the care provided to your animals. I understand this is very cryptic but I am very strict on protecting all my clients privacy and would hate for the harrassment to spread any furthur than it has. I do hope removing my tags prevents furthur messages and again I am sorry to anyone who has been caught up in this mess and if you feel threatened please contact police directly.

On a brighter note I spent the day traveling up through to otago, how good is this weather! This beautiful boy had a mobile groom today and I forgot how much work it was to travel my grooming gear around the country side so thankyou to everyone who has made adjustments to have grooming done at my salon. It certainly saves me ALOT of time, but I am still happy to attend mobile grooms where necessary 😊

I have seen an increase in puppy and kitten microchip appointments this season, which means word is getting out that it's accessible and affordable so thankyou for that too!

Other than that business is same as always 😁 Alot of fun jobs coming in big and small. I'm off to tend to the sheep. Have a wonderful night and remember no question is a silly question.
