For some watching a horse playing around doesn't mean much. For those of us who have had a horse with laminitis/cushings you understand how much satisfaction and joy it brings to see them getting back to being themselves.
My sassy princess Tulip suffered a laminitis episode 6 months ago. It has been a journey with days of tears and the thought of putting her to sleep, then telling her if im fighting for her then she needs to also. Ice boots, soaked hay, metabolize, bute, cal gastro , little walks on soft lawn. Days of hope that she is coming through it, then going backwards.
Blood test revealed what was suspected , 306 and cushings. As much as hard arse me goes nope not going down Prascend road, then I take one look at my devil eared girl and we start Prascend and currently maintained on 1/2 tab every 2nd day.
Very grateful to Charlotte Ellis CE Equine Services for the extra trims wheni I go " shes no better" lol, advice, and the pretty glue on shoes which gave her much support.
Interesting was the amount of bruising coming out of her hinds months later where as I had her fronts in ice boots morning and night and hardly any bruising .
I don't care if she never goes to another show again, just to see her pig rooting and farting around the paddock again back to her sassy little self is all that matters.
