Ruff Tucker Ruff Tucker is a Young Enterprise Scheme business selling a natural healthy alternative dog training treat handmade from 100% meat into beef jerky. Who are we?

Ruff Tucker is a Young Enterprise Scheme group made up of four yr 12 students at Iona College. Our vision is to provide healthy alternative natural training treats to dogs all over New Zealand. We are all passionate dog lovers and want to provide our pets with the best tucker we can. What is Ruff Tucker? With beef as the only ingredient, our jerky is healthy and provides good natural nutrients to

keep your dog fit and healthy. Ruff Tucker beef jerky can be used as training treats for eager farm dogs or as a healthy reward for spoilt lap dogs. Why is Ruff Tucker Innovative? We use bulls that are unable to be accepted into abattoirs and that are usually disposed of at the farmers cost because of inadequate time and resources, for example, a bull with an injured leg. We take this waste product and turn it into a useful product that can be used and increase the sustainability of the farming industry by being able to be put back into the farm through the training of dogs to work the stock.

At the YES National Awards night in Wellington on Tuesday Ruff Tucker was honoured to be awarded 3rd place. It was an exceptionally exciting evening and it was so much fun to see all the excellence award winners and other teams. Te Papa was a beautiful venue and YES did an excellent job of organising a great night. Our business has been an enormous part of our year twelve year and we are so blessed to have spent the year in an encouraging environment with the support of our mentors and families. It has been really special to have seen Ruff Tucker grow from an idea into an award winning business. There are too many people to thank, we are very proud of each other and how much we done as a team and as friends. Thanks so much to Karla Lee for her support as the regional coordinator for Hawkes Bay and also our mentor Sophie the unofficial fifth member of Ruff Tucker, you have been invaluable. We couldn't have gotten to where we are without our teacher and families thanks so much to them. We would recommend the Young Enterprise Scheme to any year twelve or thirteens it has been such an amazing experience. 🐶 🐮
