Only one professional picture to sum up George’s eventing show

Man was it a learning curve 👀

📏 65cm is far too small.

George doesn’t care about the xc fences

Show jumping has more of a pick up sticks vibe atm

The giraffe needs to focus on what we’re doing and not the people or things going on around us- Gosh, that sounds like my school reports 🤦‍♀️

🚨18mins to warm up for Dressage wasn’t the best idea.

A week with the flu and riding in a howling southerly and driving rain .. again, not a great idea.

Possibly working him during the week would’ve helped .. a lot 😬

George was quite bewildered by the big open spaces in the warm up.

BUT

It’s a start .. it’s learning.. it’s expected to be ugly..

I’m learning that’s really ugly moments are ok 😂

I am so proud of him though, it was a super testing experience with the weather and lack of prep ❤️

Goodbye hairy yak!

Clipping is definitely a labour of love but the result at the end is ❤️

🦒What a way to end the longest week 🦒

George the Giraffe had his first proper show experience today, while he was initially very..

“ What in the sorcery is this ! “

It took Stashia and I to saddle him 🤦‍♀️
He settled very quickly once on and then was his far too relaxed self .

⛔️ If there was a prize from adding extra circles .. I definitely won that one!

The unedited video show how green this is all to him.

My main goal was for George to come away from each round with a bit more confidence, and I feel like we achieved that. He's got so much scope — we both need more ring mileage together.

Two more weeks till his first eventing start 💪

🪫 Today I will definitely be running on energy drinks.

The 2 hourly check are really giving newborn baby mum vibes.

But Murphy’s definitely turned a corner, 💩are getting better softer & no temp … he even had a canter around his paddock.

The delight when he called out for his very small sloppy breakfast. 😍

I can see on the HorseSafe app his night trend in between the 2 hourly checks.

Hopefully this means we’re out of the woods 💪

Colic watch really wasn’t on my bingo card today Murphy!

9:30pm i checked the cameras.. 5:45am .. one very depressed in pain horse.

A quick TPR check so I could give the details to the vet and wait for her to arrive.

Antibiotics & drugs on board.

Spiked a temp to 39.6 🫣

The next 24 hours it’s observe every drink, wee , 💩 and hourly temp check.

Horses - I rekon they can tell it’s pay day 🤦‍♀️

🙏 Hopefully the temps stay away and he keeps improving🙏

🦒George the Giraffe 🦒

Taupo turned on the winter wonderland with beautiful crisp mornings with epic frosts.

Those cabins are FREEZING so a trip to town to get a heater was worth it.. our room was a sauna 👌

Another fantastic LOVERACING.NZ eventing clinic with good friends - This is so much more fun than competing, if you have TB it’s definitely worth entering.

George is a dude and has spent most of his life hurdling so jumping is no issue !! while he would love to jump a bigger track I feel it’s important we learn the basics and get him thinking about the job at hand. He can still be a bit sticky and green if I’m not 100 percent riding to the job at hand.

Roll on Flaxmere ODE in a month .. I now better up my training game and jump him more than once every 2 months 😆
