Can’t appreciate the sun without some clouds
Bluey and Kaisa braved the wet today on their Solos with Hazel.
I love rainy days for the dogs, less people about, more opportunities for growth and freedom 🌧️

Rainy days at Taitua with the ducks 🦆. Poppy not really sure what’s going on but happy to be here regardless 🤣

Consultation with Belle and her fosters
- This was Belle’s first time really playing with another dog without things going downhill.
- She’s walked with Hazel before, but too much close proximity led to a tussle.
- Today there was no aversive behaviours shown at all towards Hazel, very happy.
- We also worked on the foundation of luring, engagement, and how to effectively correct/disengage a dog based on context.

Part 2 Bluey the reactive staffy
- Focussed on engagement and loose-leash walking as Bluey is prone to pulling, he fell into a fairly natural heel which was nice (owners doing their part ❤️).
- Ducks are very exciting so further desensitisation is needed.
- Scatter feeding CAN be a great way to break your dog off a distraction depending on the intensity of the distraction. This was a perfect example of a stationary distraction (bird) that he’d been watching for a couple of minutes.
- Your energy is extremely important. If you’re expecting a reaction you’ll get one, if you expect and project a calm and neutral state you’re much more likely to succeed.

Bluey the reactive staffy Part 1
Bluey was back for his first Solo session!
- We started off in the deep end taking him to Hunting & Fishing, luckily it was pretty empty so only the staff to navigate.
- Next we went to Petstock and got a jump scare from a tiny off leash dog outside, luckily nothing happened as my foot sent the little rascal on his way (Bluey would likely eat it, so a kick is a far better outcome) 🦵⚽️
- To finish the Solo we went around the Cambridge lake and explored Blueys reactivity to birds and ducks!
