We’re thrilled to welcome Katrina to the Newstead Vets team! A highly skilled and well-rounded veterinarian, Katrina is known for her expertise in tackling complex medical cases and her proficiency in general surgery – truly a “small animal wizard” who can do it all. Beyond her clinical talents, she’s widely recognised for her exceptional veterinary care and warm, personable approach, making pets and their people feel at ease.

Katrina is deeply rooted in the Waikato veterinary community, where she has built a stellar reputation over the years. Outside the clinic, her passion for animals extends to her own pack of nine dogs, with whom she competes nationally in sheep dog trialing.

We couldn’t be more delighted to have Katrina bring her skill, experience, and heart to Newstead Vets.

Meet one very lucky pup who definitely didn’t chew before swallowing... This clever dog was referred to us after swallowing FOUR corn cobs 😳
Thanks to the speedy action by the owner and a referral from a local clinic, we were able to use our advanced endoscopic equipment to safely retrieve all four cobs without invasive surgery.
✅ Sedation time: less than 30 minutes
✅ No surgical recovery
✅ Walked out of the clinic the same day — happy and pain-free!
🧠 The takeaway? If you suspect your dog has swallowed something they shouldn’t have, don’t wait. The sooner we see them, the better the chance we can avoid major surgery.

🐱 As always, we will endeavour to fulfil your order on the same day, however, it’s always best to order a week before your pet’s current medication runs out.

🐶 Once your order is ready, we will text you to let you know.
