Waipiri Lambda Vala VG87 - MAX
(Lambda x EX90 Crushabull x VG89 Solomon x EX Windbrook)

Vala really hit the ground running with beautiful Carrot heifer in July and quickly set a high benchmark for the 2 year olds this season. Tracking to produce 650 KG’s in her first lactation she’s starred in the shed as well as the show ring featuring at both Waikato Show and NZ Dairy Event producing top 3 placings at both shows.

Vala who has a great future ahead of her descends back to an Incredible Windbrook cow we were lucky enough to purchase in the Velvaleen Dispersal in May 2017 who has successfully bred generations of top performing cows since.

We’re always thrilled to see the success and impact of Waipiri animals since joining new herds and this years Semex On Farm showed just that.

In the Waikato Waipiri CR Freaky Girl EX92 followed up last seasons Senior Champion Holstein at NZDE with a win in the 5 Year Old Semex On Farm as she keeps on delivering success for Warren and Michelle Ferguson.

Michael Terpstra and Stu Lister picked up Waipiri Mogul Tottie EX back in 2021 which was a young cow who we thought went under the radar. She certainly stole the show not only winning the Mature Semex On Farm but to also overall Champion. With now having pointed classification on EX cows we’re excited to see how she scores this autumn following her Parfect and Alcove daughters both scoring VG87 MAX as 2 year olds in the spring.

Waipiri Wbrook Tonio EX travelled down to Canterbury to join the Sherraine herd in early 2021. It was fantastic to see her Lambda and Chief daughters take the Quinella in the Semex On Farm 2 Year Old class in Canterbury topping the line of 39 entries. Two great young heifers who we look forward to seeing them back in the show ring in Spring 2026!

Thats a wrap on Semex On Farm regional judging for 2026. We entered 15 cows this year and look forward to the results at tonight’s prizegiving.

Photo: Ella Pirie Photography caught the UK's Mark Nutsford looking relaxed and enjoying some New Zealand hospitality at the NZ DairyEvent. Mark judged the Holsteins at the NZ DairyEvent in 2023 and after judging at IDW last week, he stopped in on the way home. The in-milk cows are in the starting gates for the final day of the show.

Unfortunately due to a late Pregnancy scan Lot 22 - Waipiri Lambda Soula has been withdrawn for the NZDE Summer Sensation Sale Monday night.

However we have an exciting replacement.

Waipiri Lambda Paradise (Lambda x Chief x Beemer) is directly out of one of our favourite 3 year olds Waipiri Chief Paradise who in November scored a maximum 89 Points. Her mother a sharp Beemer who was 2nd Senior Yearling at NZDE in 2018 then a pedigree back to IDW Champion Dryfield Dundee Paradise VG89.

Beemer Paradise’s full sister is also Tahora Mogul Paris’ Dam. Paris was Holstein Intermediate Champion at NZDE in 2023 and backed that up with Supreme Champion here again at NZDE in 2024 and has made a massive impact on Waipiri since she arrived in 2022.

Very special opportunity to get into a great young Lambda calf and an exceptional family.

Fantastic to be back at Claudelands in 2025. We couldn’t be more proud of the string of 16 cattle we exhibited headlined by Camille and Missy standing in the Senior and Intermediate Championship Lineups.

A big change up for us with all bar 1 cow making their first ever appearance in a show ring. All this wouldn’t be possible without Marylene who spent 3 weeks with us prior to the show, William Dudfield doing a fantastic job on the tools fresh off his first trip to Expo. Without you we certainly couldn’t have presented our stock in such good order. Grant and Margaret also made their way up from Southland while Pumba made his way down from Whitianga. All 3 of you we couldn’t appreciate your time and hard work any more if we could.

Lastly a special mention to Warren Ferguson. Without your endless work behind the scenes we wouldn’t have a such great show. Over 250 extremely high quality animals Exhibited across the breeds made for excellent competition. This year certainly set a benchmark for future Waikato Shows.
