What is Flawless Paws Still Doing While We Are on Intake Respite?

We've noticed that donations have slowed dramatically since we announced our respite from taking in new animals. We completely understand that people may assume our work has paused, but we want to reassure our supporters that Flawless Paws is still working hard behind the scenes every single day.

While we are not currently taking in animals, we continue to provide vital support to pet owners in our community, including:

🐾 Desexing assistance
🐾 Microchipping services
🐾 Food support
🐾 Flea and worm treatments
🐾 Advice and assistance for families struggling to keep their pets

Our priority has always been prevention. We believe that whenever it is safe and appropriate, keeping animals in their loving homes is far better than rehoming them. By helping owners through difficult times, we can prevent unnecessary surrenders and reduce the number of animals entering already overwhelmed shelters and rescues.

Every animal that can safely stay with its family is one less animal needing a shelter space. This helps keep kennels, cages, foster homes, and rescue resources available for the animals who truly have nowhere else to go.

Although our intake doors are currently closed, our work certainly hasn't stopped. We remain committed to supporting animals and their owners, reducing unwanted litters through desexing, and helping keep pets healthy, safe, and where they belong.

If you'd like to help us continue to help them 💗

Your donations make this work possible. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue providing these essential services to the community and ultimately keeps more animals out of the shelter system.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Flawless Paws. We couldn't do this without you. ❤️

🐾 Cats' claws aren’t just for scratching, they’re essential multitools to help them climb, hunt, play, and defend themselves. Thanks to their ability to retract, claws stay tucked away in a furry sheath when relaxed, ready for action.

Scratching on surfaces helps cats to care for their claws, keeping them sharp and helping them not to grow too long. It’s also used for communication. When cats scratch, they leave a visible mark and a scent signal from special glands between their toes, helping them establish territorial boundaries.

Happy Pet Mum Day (May 10-11) to all the women whose hearts belong to paws, whiskers, wet noses, and tiny little lives that somehow become their whole world.

To the ones who wake up early for feeds, stay up late when they’re sick, buy toys they absolutely don’t need, and somehow end up with 400 photos of the same sleeping pose in their camera roll.

The love is real. The bond is real. And the comfort, safety, and happiness you give your pets means everything to them.

Being a pet mum is a special kind of love — quiet, loyal, patient, and unconditional. 🤍

Please share your favourite "Pet mum moment" or picture in the comments!

💔The Pātaka is closing down 💔

‼️We will keep it up until after our free flea and worm packs have been collected as the Pātaka is the collection site‼️

It will be dismantled Thursday afternoon.

We will also be cancelling our Pink Breakfast fundraiser as the Pātaka was part of the funding - We were going to get kids to draw some pictures on the Pātaka. We were looking forward to this event and were planning on advertising on Friday 💔

We are well and truely over the verbal abuse, privacy violations, damage and theft that has resulted from us opening the Pātaka.

We constantly have messages, calls and texts about how we “suck” “we’re no help” and so on all because we don’t have food to give.

We see recordings of people kicking the Pātaka when it’s empty, yelling at the camera, flipping us off, slamming the doors, people inflicting intentional damage.

We’ve had multiple people approach our home when the Pātaka is empty. This is very scary for us when it’s just a single person in the home or if we are not home and see people on the property through the cameras. Though most of these people don’t intend to harm and most interactions when asked to leave and not come onto the property are taken well, we still don’t appreciate the scare.

Today was the final straw. The Pātaka camera recorded yelling and swearing (same person as yesterday but with two other people) the recording wasn’t entirely clear but we believe one of the people said something about “smashing it down” we can’t be 100% sure but that is what we believe we heard. The recording ended with a lovely middle finger at the camera. Very mature.

We are so disappointed and very sorry to our community that the wrong doings of others has resulted in this outcome but our personal safety is paramount.

All the best,
Flawless Paws Team ❤️

Warning : Uncensored swearing

Unfortunately, our cameras outside of our home didn’t record any sound but we did get a rather awful verbal assault on our Pātaka security camera.

To the individual that thought it okay to come upto the private residence where we love, but shout, curse and abuse our trustee due to the fact the Pataka was empty, continued acts of unnecessary abuse and volatile behaviour will result in the Pantry being removed permanently. It is never okay to treat anyone such a way, let alone while trespassing with your animals off lead.

We will not tolerate verbal abuse over the fact that the Pātaka is currently empty. We have no obligation to provide food to others, we do this as a community service act with no benefit coming our way. We are very close to closing the Pātaka altogether which would be a real shame for the people who need help. This individual approached me on our property which is a private residence and verbally assaulted me for the Pātaka being empty. He had two dogs running around the property which is very inappropriate as is but especially when we have multiple cats here.

It goes without saying that threatening people or making people uncomfortable is unacceptable. Especially in someone else’s home.
