💛 Malfy - breeding season 2026 💛

There are a few options that we have available...

* AI - available via SG Stud - Boutique Equine Breeding Services. Colette can manage your mare at her place, or arrange to ship semen - there is a booking form on her website for Malfy and collection costs are payable directly to her (she'll organise with us to do the collection). Worth touching base with her if you're unsure of the process as she is a wealth of knowledge and very helpful!

* live cover - walk in or leave with us.
For this, we need to know a few things (I am editing Malfy's booking form shortly to accommodate them) - the age and breed of the mare, if she's a maiden, grazing preferences (shared or alone, fed or fine on grass and haylage).
If walking in, we reserve the right to re-scan the mare if she's not teasing well, for everyones safety - we had a couple arrive last year who were most definitely not ready for service.
If leaving with us, it's helpful if you can get the mare scanned before coming, particularly if early on this season, as lots of mares are still 'springy' and not cycling properly yet.

Its the 1st of September!

Yes, this page has been quiet, but I (Colette) have had a lovely break from things and have been gearing up for this coming season.

We have some exciting things in the pipeline all going to plan, so stay tuned for those announcements and updates as we move along in the season.

We have many bookings coming in for foaling and for getting mares in foal as well as embryo transfers. Please do not leave booking in your mare(s) to get in foal at the last minute as you may find we have a wait list.

We also have a lot of exciting stallions coming in for AI collection training, so if you have been thinking about this as an option, chat to us now as spaces are limited for this.

Our point of difference is our attention to detail and the fact that we remain a boutique service which enables us to have the time, patience, resources and management strategies for individual horses in our care.

You may have noticed its been a bit quiet on here for a while - that's because for the first time in 14 years I have decided to have a holiday!

Last week, however, saw a bustle of activity with SG Stud getting ready for the New Zealand Arabian Horse Society AGM and Stud Tour that was held for the first time in many years here in the Waikato.

SG Stud was proud to showcase our facilities for breeding and foaling as well as our resident stallions. We were blessed with incredible weather for this time of the year and this made the day very joyful.

We were very proud to present our Arabian stallions on the tour. All these lads are only groomed - no covers apart from Shell Fire who just has a waterproof sheet on.

Fed on Harvest Grains Feeds, all our horses are just glowing from the inside out 🥰

Superb temperament. Bred to cross over heavier Warmblood mares to refine. The progeny he currently has out there are moving machines. We are looking to get him classified with the Warmblood Association at the next classification.

Big thanks to Kelly Mason from Kelaray Stud for leasing us such a superb mare that gave me everything I was after as a future replacement for our old lad here.
Helios is a moving machine with an incredible presence. There were many 'wows' when we brought him out.
We have a lot of interest in people wanting to use him this season. If you are very keen, please get in touch and, if we have enough interest, we will look at training him for AI collection and analyse his swimmers before we make a commitment to nominating him and opening him up to stud.
Potential Stud Fee for the 2026/2027 season $1,200+GST with a discount for the first 5 mares (to be discussed with the mare owners)

Huge congratulations to breeder Steph MacPherson and rider Emily Harrington with Impression winning the 120km Prodosa Boost Championships this weekend! Very well deserved win!

Impression is by our resident stallion Aspen Hills Shell Fire out of Craig Royston Maragold.
