This term our Masters Class students have been learning a new dog sport called Treibball, otherwise know as Pushball or Urban Herding.

The objective is to send the dog out to target a specific ball on a field of multiple balls, and then have them push said ball back to their handler, steering the ball using their nose or their body. This requires learning lots of different cues, having a very high level of impulse control and being able to think and listen to their handler even when they are very excited.

Treibball is especially enjoyable for herding breeds, who are designed to control movement and work closely with their handler.

All dogs - Barney, Oakley, Maple, North, Charlie and Dory - have been doing a great job at learning new cues, listening to their handlers, and having lots of fun with this new sport.

If you think your dog would enjoy learning new fun skills such as Treibball, the Masters Class is available to every dog/handler duo that completes our Basic Life Skills levels 1 and 2.

Term 4 2025

After spending the previous term upskilling our instructors and revising our current level 1 class, we are excited to bring our BASIC LIFE SKILLS 1 to Hamilton Dog Obedience Club.

This new and improved level 1 class is designed for anyone with a dog or puppy that is wanting to improve the bond they have with their dog by building trust, fun and communication into their relationship together. We focus on teaching you and your dog real life skills such as recall, loose lead walking, calmness and handler focus around distractions, all in a fun and engaging way.

Our enrollments for this course will open this evening (24th September) and a link will be posted to this page to enable you to enrol. Please have a read of our featured post regarding the items you will need for participation in this class. You will find this at the top of our page.

All dogs must be fully vaccinated by the time of the course start date.

For all of those people who have already completed a level 1 course, you will be sent an email with details in how to enrol in our level 2 course.

Hamilton Dog Obedience Club - Term 3 Update.

We will not be running classes in Term 3 this year. After careful consideration, we have decided to use the term to focus on upskilling our instructors. We will also be reviewing our current CD1 and CD2 lesson plans to ensure we're providing the best possible experience for both you and your dogs.

We will be back in action for Term 4, enrollment details will be posted right here on our page in September. Thank you for your understanding and support and we look forward to seeing you again in Term 4.
