🐶 Calling All Dog Owners! 🐶
Have you upgraded your dog’s lead collection recently? Or perhaps you have a few spare leads collecting dust at home?
New or pre-loved (but still in good, safe condition) leads are all very welcome. If you have a spare lead you no longer need, please consider donating it to our centre. 🐕❤️
The dogs promise to put them to VERY good use! 🐾

We’d absolutely love them! ❤️

Our beautiful golden girl Aspin is pictured here enjoying a beach adventure 🏖️🐾 — and she’s a great example of just how much our dogs love getting out and about, and we need leads to help make this happen!

📍 Donations can be dropped into our centre.

Thank you for helping our dogs like Aspin get out into the world, stretch their legs, sniff all the smells and enjoy adventures while they wait for their new families! 💕🐾

🌿 A HUGE thank you to some wonderful community champions! 🌿
We’ve had a little garden transformation happening at our Northway Street Centre, and we couldn’t have done it without some incredibly generous people! 💚

A massive thank you to Jesse and the team at Treescape for kindly donating a huge load of mulch and, even better, dropping it off at our centre completely free of charge. Your generosity has made such a difference to our gardens — just look at the before and after! 😍🌱

And the mulch doesn’t spread itself… so another enormous thank you goes to Tyla and Grace from Genesis, who spent a whole day getting stuck in and spreading it across our gardens. 🌿💪
Tyla and Grace were taking part in a work-supported day away from their usual work at Genesis, using the opportunity to give back to the community — and they certainly weren’t afraid of a bit of hard work! We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and enthusiasm they brought to the job. ❤️

It’s amazing what can happen when local businesses and community members come together to support our centre. Our gardens are looking SO much better, and our animals, staff, volunteers and visitors will all get to enjoy the difference. 🐾🌳

Calling all budding young photographers - our SPCA Kids' Photography Competition is on now! 📸🏆️

There are five different age categories, and a $100 PB Tech gift voucher for the winner of each category. On top of that, the overall winner will take home a massive $300 PB Tech voucher! 🤑

This year's theme is 'Animals Loving Life'. Think pets relaxing, farm animals grazing, animals playing or resting, or wildlife exploring. Your photo can be of any animal, as long as it shows them feeling comfortable, safe, and happy.

It'll be our sweetest fundraiser of the year, with all profits going back to the care of thousands of abused, neglected and vulnerable animals across Aotearoa 🩵 What better reason to dust off your apron, and grab your piping bags?

Urgent message for cat owners - we have more Snip 'n' Chip vouchers available now, and kittens like these demonstrate why desexing is so important.

We get so many litters like these coming through the doors of our Centres every day 💔 Sick, unwanted, and struggling - and sadly, not all of them make it. While two of this litter recovered and were adopted into loving homes, one was just too sick and didn't pull through 😞

By desexing cats, we can stop unwanted litters and prevent suffering before it occurs. Our Snip 'n' Chip vouchers help cat owners get their cat desexed and microchipped for just $30 🙏

From Wednesday 8 July, we’re working with local participating veterinary clinics to offer this service to cat owners who may be struggling. We’d like to give a huge shoutout to these vets for helping us to make this possible.

There are a limited number of vouchers available for those in need – please only register for a voucher if you are 100% certain that you’ll use it, so that it doesn’t go to waste.

Diego's been looking for a home for 144 days. He hasn’t found one yet, so he got his picture taken to put his best paw forward – and to tell you that as of today, it’ll be easier than ever to adopt him 🥺

Until 2 August, we’re making adoptions for all our long-stays – any animal who’s been available for adoption for 42 days or more – by koha/donation only. 📣Volunteer Area Coordinators needed! 📣

SPCA’s annual Fill the Bucket street appeal is back on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October 2026, and we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us as Area Coordinators across Aotearoa 🩵🙏

This is an opportunity to take on a leadership role and help make one of SPCA’s most important fundraising events a success. Funds raised through the appeal help us continue caring for, protecting, and finding loving homes for animals in need throughout New Zealand.

As a Volunteer Area Coordinator, you’ll help support volunteers in your local area, ensuring everything runs smoothly across the appeal weekend. We’re looking for people who are organised, reliable, and able to commit to both appeal days, as well as attend a training session beforehand 📋️

In order to take on this role you will also need access to a car, as you will have to move between sites on the days.

You can also take on the role yourself or share the experience with a friend.

🐾Tigger and Roo: Professional Good Boys: Seeking Forever Homes🐾

Tigger and Roo have an important announcement: They would like to formally apply for the position of “Your New Best Friend.”

So far, they haven’t had any applications of their own which is wild, considering their résumés include:
• Excellent snuggler (Roo)
• Certified goofball (Tigger)
• Tail wagging enthusiast (both)
• Treat motivated scholars (especially when snacks are involved)

These two sweet boys have been patiently waiting, watching other dogs get picked like it’s recess dodgeball… and they’re still sitting there like, “Hey, we’re fun too!”

✨ Roo is the gentle, soulful type the dog who leans in like he’s giving you a hug.

✨ Tigger is the bouncy optimist living up to his name the kind of pup who believes every day is a good day.

They’re sweet, they’re silly, they’re lovable, and they’re ready for someone to finally pick them say, “Yep, that's my boy.”

If your home is missing a little joy, a little laughter, and a whole lot of love either Tigger or Roo are here for you and taking applications now.
