Happy Saturday everyone!! We're Flit and Tony, and while we've become great friends here and had loads of fun playing together, we're each looking for our own forever home.

💕 I'm Flit! I can be a little nervous when meeting new people and in new situations, but with a little patience (and a few tasty treats!), I soon start relaxing. Treats are definitely the fastest way to win me over! Once I feel comfortable, I'm a very affectionate girl who loves attention and being close to my people.

💙 And I'm Tony! I'm a happy, fun-loving puppy who's always ready for an adventure, a game, or a cuddle. I've been learning lots of new things like 'sit' and 'wait', and apparently I have lots more to learn! Three of my siblings have already found their forever families, I'm hoping it's my turn to next!

🚨🐶 Local Good Girl Seeking Permanent Humans! 🐶🚨

Hi, I'm Lavender 💜

I've been told I'm a good girl with loads of potential, but one thing is missing... a family of my very own!

I've watched the other dogs, including my sisters, head off to their new homes, and each time I hope I'll be next.

You don't need a perfect home to be my perfect home. I just need someone willing to give me a chance. Could you be my person?

I'd love a home where I can go on adventures, learn new things, nap in sunny spots, and remind you every day that you're my favourite person in the whole world. 🐾

Right now, I'm waiting patiently, but I gotta admit - I'm ready to swap shelter life for couch life.

🐾 A HUGE thank you to the amazing team from PKF Hamilton! 🐾

On Tuesday 29th September, we were lucky enough to have 9 awesome volunteers from PKF Hamilton come along to the centre and tackle some of those much-needed jobs we never seem to have enough time for!
What makes their help even more special is that they took time away from their usual work to come and support us — and they certainly didn’t shy away from the hard work!

The team got stuck into a huge range of projects throughout the day, including:
🎨 Painting one of our cat rooms
🔨 Plastering another
🌿 Gardening
💦 Water blasting
🐱 Concreting our catio space in Adoption room7

Speaking of the catio, we'd like to give a MASSIVE shout-out to ECOMAX RMC for generously donating the concrete, and to HIREPOOL for kindly supplying the tools and wheelbarrows needed to get the job done. Their support has helped us give the catio a well-deserved refresh, creating an even better space for our cats to enjoy. 🐾💙

We’re incredibly grateful for the time, energy and effort the team put in. You made a HUGE difference to our centre and helped us get through a list of jobs that we simply don’t always have time to tackle.

We really appreciate your support! 🙌

Can you give 2 hours of your time for the animals? 🐶🐱

We need volunteer street collectors for our Fill the Bucket street appeal, which is taking place on 30 and 31 October in Hamilton and all around the country!

What's involved:
👉 Just 2 hours of your time (or more if you like) on either Friday 30 or Saturday 31 October
👉 Working in pairs at a collection site in your area, collecting donations from the public
👉 You'll be provided with the collection bucket, bibs, and stickers.
👉 You're welcome to bring your dog with you! Just remember to bring their water bowl and bags.

Every cent donated from our Fill the Bucket street appeal goes back to the thousands of animals that we help each year. This is a critical fundraiser, and we couldn't do it without our collection volunteers!

Exciting News Eddie has been adopted!

🐾 Eddie is still looking for his forever home 🐾

This lovely little guy is still waiting for the right person to come along and give him a place to call home.

Eddie absolutely loves the resident cats in his foster home and really enjoys having feline friends around. Because of this, he’s looking for a home with another friendly cat who can become his very own bestie.

Today is International Rabbit Day 🐇 Rabbits are New Zealand's third most popular pet - but despite this, we're STILL waiting on a Code of Welfare for Rabbits.

SPCA drafted a Code of Welfare for Rabbits back in 2021 and presented this to NAWAC (the National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee). Five years later, this still hasn't progressed 🕰️

Companion codes of welfare are vital in ensuring that animals like cats, dogs, and rabbits are treated with the care they deserve. These codes help owners and the community meet the basic needs of their animals.

🐶 Calling All Dog Owners! 🐶
Have you upgraded your dog’s lead collection recently? Or perhaps you have a few spare leads collecting dust at home?
New or pre-loved (but still in good, safe condition) leads are all very welcome. If you have a spare lead you no longer need, please consider donating it to our centre. 🐕❤️
The dogs promise to put them to VERY good use! 🐾

Our beautiful golden girl Aspin is pictured here enjoying a beach adventure 🏖️🐾 — and she’s a great example of just how much our dogs love getting out and about, and we need leads to help make this happen!
