Hi everyone ❤️

After 6 great years, Harpers Hounds is no longer operating. Thank you for all your support over the years - I have loved working with you and your dogs. I have a long term ankle injury which has made walking unsustainable moving forward.

For any enquiries, you are welcome to message the page and I will refer you to a trusted colleague.

Also on a personal note, thanks to everyone who has messaged me about my dogs. For those of you who don’t know, Thor, Storm and Stella have all passed in the last 3 weeks.

To those asking who I haven’t been able to reply to - Thor had liver cancer which progressed very quickly, Storm’s Cushings Disease was impacting her quality of life, and Stella had lymphoma and was very unwell.

They were central to my journey and I owe everything to them.

If you let your dogs hang out of your car windows, barking like crazy and trying to clamber out of the car at the sight of me walking the dogs, you are an ar****le.

You are a bigger ar****le if you make no move to roll your goddam windows up.

You are risking your dogs and my dogs. If your dog is dog reactive, KEEP YOUR WINDOWS UP. If that fails, GRAB YOUR DOG AND DRIVE AWAY.

The situation is NOT FUNNY.

You are a boss level ar****le if your dog actually jumps out and runs at me.

People often stop me when I am out walking and ask how I get all the dogs to walk so nicely 😊

"They're all so calm!"
"They all get along so well"
"Can you teach my dog how to do that?"

Yes. I. Can.

Every dog I have goes through my one on one training where we learn loose leash walking, taught with leash pressure. Some dogs are easy and are quick learners. Others take longer, especially those who have been allowed to pull.

You cannot teach loose leash walking successfully if:

1. You aren't consistent.
2. You aren't working on it daily.
3. You get frustrated.
3. You allow pulling in other areas.
4. You have an unhealthy relationship with the dog.
5. If you expect magic fairy dust to solve the issue.

Training your dog takes time, patience, consistency, clarity and calmness.

Dog training is very often not about the dog at all, and in fact all about the owner. How they feel, act and communicate. How they show up for the dog.

Working on it for a week and giving up because it's too hard is not the dogs fault, nor the methods.

Stating my methods don't work is contradictory to the fact that I can walk down the street with six dogs without being pulled over.

Stating there must be an easier way, and trying something else is understandable. But if there was a quicker way, I'd be doing it. It would save me a lot of time.

It can be hard to teach a difficult dog to walk nicely, but it can be done.
It is also hard to have a difficult dog that pulls.

Choose your hard. Do the work. Be proud that you didn't give up.

The people have been asking, and so the people shall receive!

I never wanted a tattoo, but as my dogs got older my mindset on that changed.

After scrolling ideas I came across Ria Kim 김리아 and instantly fell in love with her work.

I was incredibly nervous - I spent months on the design and was worried about how it would look.

Needless to say, it's perfect and I obsess over it every day.

Ria is amazing, the detail on it is incredible and she is so talented.

The people have also been asking where Stella is. She will be on my other arm, hopefully one day soon!

I forgot how cute he was as a puppy.

He is a silly sausage with a ton of personality.

He tests me 🤣 But what is life without a challenge.

Can't believe he is four, because where has that time gone.

It's always a crazy time when I have known and walked a dog for their whole life.

Super cute, super sassy but he has always been super stable.

HB lil man. I will not be forgetting the image of you catching rats anytime soon, nor you playing tug of war with Beau with a possum.

Putting dogs together in packs, of varying ages, temperaments, breeds, energy levels, etc, is not as simple as we make it look. Add reactive dogs and you amplify the risk.

Done right, it takes time, planning ahead, careful monitoring and an extremely skilled handler.

Rush it, and you will have fights. Dogs that are shoved together quickly, with no prior relationship building will never trust each other completely. Dogs that are nervous around other dogs will stay nervous. Dogs that have never adjusted to the process of a new dog will struggle with change. And when one kicks off, the chances are the whole pack will jump in.

When I started, one of my rules was, No Pack Fights.
Do it right, even if it takes months. Safety above money. I wanted to be the reliable, safe dogwalker that my clients trust with their dogs 100%. No injuries, no escapees, and no excuses.

Sometimes I will be extra cautious to ensure a dog is ready. One on one training. Start with Stella and Storm. Add the easiest dog. Assess the energy. I will obtain an extra pair of hands if I have any inkling of doubt. I take zero chances.

This has achieved in my nearly six years of walking packs, zero pack fights. I trust my process because it works.

This is also why my packs vary in numbers. If you see me with five to six dogs, you are watching a stable pack that has been together for years.

Four or less - someone is ill, away, or most likely, still in training.

Six isn't many to me, but walking reactive dogs residentially is difficult. The general public make it so.
