I thought the roar was a bit more subdued than usual, but we still had a great time hunting stags. Weather was up n down.. Lachie got an awesome red at the start and his 1st sika that unfortunately met its match this week. Uncle Jim's skills were on point when he roared in an impressive hybrid, which Lachie took down with a perfect shot in the chest from 4 meters. He also got his daughter Indy a beauty 12 point red.. And Monty got his first 8-point sika - what a proud moment for Bry! It's always amazing to see the young kids having a blast. A couple of weeks left of the sika and fallow action so good luck 👍

In the thick of it now. Been an interesting few days hunting. The roar is a bit slower than previous years, but there is still lots of action. It's pretty dry in the hills, though. The young fella is just thriving on it. Found a set of impressive cast antlers. Don't often get the pair. Got lots of great footage and photos as we explored all the roaring action over the last few days. Now I'm home to empty out the chiller and take in the remaining work for the Easter break before hooking into the next hunt.

Deer Skull Boiling and Cleaning Service - Drop-Off Point is now available. To arrange drop-offs, please contact Jim Goodyer at 021 029 17323 or our taxidermy shop. This service offers a two-week turnaround and is priced at $150 per head. Jim is based in Halcombe.
