CRD is a registered charity dedicated to helping the stray and abandoned kittens and cats living on the streets of Dunedin. Along with our dedicated team of volunteers we rescue, rehabilitate, desex and rehome hundreds of cats and kittens each year. We promote desexing of companion and stray cats, and aim to reduce the number of stray and unwanted cats in Dunedin. Our long-term aim is to have our

own shelter but in the meantime, all our rescues are fostered in private homes by volunteers until they are ready for their forever homes. Our main focus is kittens but we try to help with rehoming adult cats whenever space and resources allow.

We are very sorry to be sharing sad news about the wee girl who was found terribly sick a couple of days ago.

Unfortunately she didn't make it and has passed away. We are taking some comfort in the fact that she was at least warm and very well looked after in her last days.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated and offered words of support. Any excess donations will go towards our next emergency intake.

This wee girl is currently in the care of Dunedin Emergency Vet Clinic. A caring person found her lying on the ground at his workplace, and he contacted us straight away. The team at the vet found she was critically ill with cat flu. Her eyes were gummed shut from discharge. She's dehydrated, and not interested in food. She's had antibiotics, fluids, and some food from a syringe, but she's still seriously ill.

If anyone would like to contribute towards her vet care, we'd really appreciate it.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our adoption day today. It was a great success. These little cuties are just two of the 39 kittens who all went off to their forever homes today :-)

We have 40 kittens all ready and waiting for their forever homes. Doors open at 1pm and we are here until 3pm at the Civic hall, 5 Howden St, Green Island.

We also have a candyfloss machine, our popular catnip kickers and tote bags, a raffle and cat supplies for sale.
