Well Jess darling, our old girl, the day has finally come, the day I’ve been dreading the most.
It’s so hard to put into words what a truly beautiful dog you were, and I think everyone who ever met you would agree. You lived SUCH a full life. You were a service dog to someone who needed you, and then you became part of our family, the most loyal dog to walk this earth. But to me, you were my soul dog, my best friend and my constant companion.
Those who knew Jess knew she couldn’t do anything wrong. Like, I mean it 😂 (Jess, if you’re reading this, I really need you to do something naughty up there).
You had your little quirks though, barking at me and Connor literally on cue the second we finished dinner (don’t ask, we still don’t know why), bringing your old service dog tricks into our house by stealing the remote and bringing it to us whether we were watching TV or not, getting under the duvet with me and slobbering all over my pillows, waking your dad up on the weekends with a decent shove to the back (personal favourite), and always stealing Rupert’s brand new toys.
But aside from all of that, you were truly special. You were so fiercely loyal to me, so patient, and my best friend. You always knew when I needed you and would quietly sit beside me without needing to do anything at all. You taught me what unconditional love really is.
I’m completely heartbroken. I feel like I’ve lost the best part of me. You will continue to be my favourite topic to bring up, my phone background, and the dog I look for everywhere I go. You have been my best chapter, and you will ALWAYS be one of the best parts of me.
My soul dog. My best friend. My Jess.
Rest easy, our darling girl.
We miss you more than you’ll ever know. ❤️
