We’re excited to welcome our newest Veterinarian to the team at Braided River Vets - Esther Van Kampen!! 🐄

Although Esther grew up in Western Australia, New Zealand is now proudly her home (so we’ll let the Aussie roots slide 😉).

Esther came from Southland working as a Mixed animal Vet but has recently made the move to Canterbury and brings with her seven years of mixed animal experience, along with a strong passion for mastitis management and milk quality.

When it comes to small animals, working dogs have a special place in Esthers heart — admired for their intelligence, loyalty, and the huge role they play as some of the hardest-working members of rural New Zealand.

Be sure to say hello if you see Esther out and about over the coming months 👋

A warm welcome to our new Large Animal Veterinarian,
David Exton!

Originally from the Waikato, David returns home after spending the past seven years working in South Otago and the Catlins since graduating from Massey University. During that time, he also headed overseas for a couple of winters, working in Vanuatu and Australia’s Northern Territory.

David enjoys the variety that comes with veterinary work across all species, but he’s most at home out on farm. He has a strong interest in lameness and bovine surgery, and enjoys getting stuck into the more hands-on challenges the job brings.

Some of you may have already met David, but if not, be sure to say hello when you see him out and about.

David is excited to explore the region and is quietly optimistic the weather might be a step up from what he experienced in Clutha!
