Paddy the Pacer is famous for performing his best pūkana on every ride! 🐎😎
Just look at his rider, Susan 🦄⭐️ — she’s joining in too, with a fantastic pūkana and a cheeky titiro whakaiti (eye roll). Safe to say these two were having plenty of fun out on the trail! 😂🤣😂🤣😂

🍂🐴 Introducing Ngahuru 🐴🍂

Meet Ngahuru — our beautiful new Clydesdale/Standardbred mare whose name means Autumn in Māori.

Bred from hardy Te Urewera stock, Ngahuru comes from a long line of horses known for their strength, soundness, and sensible nature. With her rich autumn colouring, calm temperament, and trusting personality, the name suits her perfectly.

She has already settled in beautifully and is proving to be kind, obliging, and incredibly easy to be around. We are looking forward to the adventures ahead and watching her become part of the Boutique Horse Treks family.

We’ve invested in saddle fit and comfort for every horse in our herd, because happy horses make for happy adventures.

⭐ Paddy is now sporting a Parelli Hybrid saddle with a fibreglass tree.
⭐ Jazz and Mazie have beautiful Italian-made Freeform western-style treeless saddles.
⭐ Maple is comfortably fitted with a Wintec stock saddle.

To support their backs even further, every horse is equipped with a Barefoot Physio saddle pad.

Yes, it has been a significant investment, but our horses carry us and our guests every day, so they deserve the very best. Their comfort, wellbeing, and long-term soundness are always our priority, and investing in properly fitted tack has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

A horse’s hoof is an incredible structure — it acts like a shock absorber, blood pump, and support system all in one.

🐎 Fun fact:
When a horse walks, the hoof actually expands slightly each time it hits the ground. This helps absorb impact and also pumps blood back up the leg, which is why movement is so important for healthy circulation in horses.

Another amazing detail:
The hoof wall is made mostly of keratin — the same protein found in human fingernails and hair — but it’s strong enough to support an animal weighing hundreds of kilos.
