Breeding and showing dogs is an art and I have so enjoyed the journey and then being able to help others also in 2025. Super thrilled with the Miniature Dachshund Smooth Point Score 2025 across New Zealand, it has been a real team, effort and I cannot thank, Savi, Cherie, Martina and Soli enough for their support in the show ring in 2025. There have been excellent breed numbers and strong competition in the breed throughout the year.

5 weeks old Miniature Smooth Dachshund Puppies Available
Markwell Kennels: Mini Smooth Dachshunds, bred from imported lines from the UK, Australia & New Zealand, quality structure, sound temperament and health.
We have two male puppies available, currently 5 weeks old, and ready to join his new family from 23 January 2026. Price of a registered pedigree puppy is $3,800.00.
About our puppies
• Both parents/grandparents extensively health tested for dachshund hereditary diseases
• Born and raised in our home, accustomed to everyday household noises, well-socialised.
Puppy will go to his new home with:
• Microchip
• First vaccination
• Up-to-date worming
• Puppy pack to support a smooth transition
Registration & placement
• Registered with Dogs NZ
• Pedigree papers provided
• Sold on endorsement – not for breeding
Home requirements, we are seeking a loving indoor home, ideally where someone is home for most of the day. These boys are bred to be family companions and placed accordingly.
Practical details
• Holding deposit: $500 to secure puppy until collection
• Transport: We can discuss delivery across South Island in January. Puppy can be sent with reputable pet transporter at owners cost.

UPDATE - George now has a new home. His new Dad is now retired and looking forward to spending his days out and about with George, going for walks and watching TV. Thank you to all those that showed interest. His new owners previously had a Markwell Mini Smooth Dachshund that passed away due to old age.

“George” At Markwell Kennels is looking for his forever home. George is a 3 year old mini smooth dachshund. He is a gentle boy who just wants to please. We are looking to rehome George with a couple of conditions. If you are interested in owning George then please contact Robert Manning at Markwell Kennels.

Markwell Kennels are very pleased to announce the safe arrival of our latest miniature smooth dachshund puppies born 23 Nov 2025. The Dam is “Betty” NZ Ch Treppenwitz Creative Design and the Sire is “George” NZ Ch Newquay UK Pride at Markwell. This litter has come from selective breeding of English bloodlines over a period of time to produce sound quality. We are very fortunate to have 3 puppies, 2 B/T and 1 Shaded Red. Breeding dogs is very much a journey and what is, so rewarding is the planning and of course acknowledging those miniature smooth breeders behind your bloodlines with the hard work they have done. Thank you so much Ann Shelton, Carol Dakin and Sandy Gilbert for entrusting Betty with us. We selectively breed on a small scale using imported bloodlines mainly from the UK and Australia. We are very excited with what the future will bring.

Well the year in breeding and showing dogs has been pretty special. Thank you so much Nicole de Vries for showing the standard smooths “Nelson” Aust & NZ CH Markwell Pathway to Freedom and also “Daisy” Aust CH Markwell Madeliefje in Australia. Nelson is now a dual Aust & NZ Champion and Daisy is an Aust Champion. They have had very good competition and held their own along the way in gaining their titles. Congratulations and well done.

We are hoping our latest Markwell Kennels standard puppies do well with another one making there way across to Australia to be shown in 2025.

This year has been pretty special with our homebred mini smooth – “Penny” Ch Solid Gold of Markwell. She has obtained the NZ National number 1 spot in the breed for Show Dog of the Year 2024. She has been selectively shown and performed so well at Group and Inshow Level. We have exciting plans for her in 2025.
“Nelson” – NZ & Aust Ch Lowenhyte Nelson mini smooth has continued to bring us much joy and we cannot thank Ian Cross enough for the opportunity to campaign him. This little boy was the first brindle to arrive in NZ for the breed and he certainly has left his mark. His progeny are now starting to be shown and his latest 2 youngers will hit the show ring in 2025.

2025 is looking very exciting for Markwell standard and miniature smooth dachshunds. Thank you to all those that have supported us in 2024. Nothing gives me more satisfaction in helping people into the breed and seeing them doing well.

Well there is nothing that gives you more pleasure than working in with others to support your breed. So wonderful seeing the fruits of your labour. Can not thank Ian Cross enough for allowing Lowenhyte Nelson coming to NZ and holding his own. Now is his progeny starting to leave their mark. His son Duncan - Markwell Kiwi Tiger at Lowenhyte doing extremely well in Perth and siblings Maia - Markwell Crossing Lines and Trevor - Blurred Lines making their presence known in the show ring. Ruby - Crimson Tiger at Danubia will be shown over the coming months. Super thrilled with how they are developing and great to be able to help others into the breed.

Breeding quality takes time and being able to work with others in the breed is something I am very greatful for. We are very excited to announce our latest standard smooth litter. "Winnie" - NZ Markwell Afrikan Dreaming to "Toto" Daxway Cool As Jazz. I am super thrilled and we have 1 B&T bitch and 5 dogs 1 B&T and 4 Red. Toto is a son from Jazz, in which I had semen from a Jazz son also stored but unfortunately did not take and was only 1 mating. To have this litter is very special and to continue with where I started being the lovely Tiermark Kennels. So now we wait and wait these precious babies grow. Thank you Andrea and Carol in working to keep these lovely lines still going.
