I have been running Pawsitive Steps Dog Training since 2003 and simultaneously was the course coordinator of Canine Behaviour and Training at the Institute of Technology (Unitec) until February 2020. I worked as a qualified Animal Welfare Officer and Animal Control Officer in Auckland and Waitakere Councils for eight years prior. In these capacities, I have helped hundreds of dogs and dog owners better understand their relationships with their dog and students to reach their potential within the canine industry.

Katie gave Simba a great and important lesson today! Learning to respect personal space and turn down the bounce is such a crucial step in building good manners and focus. When a dog learns to respect boundaries and curb over-excited, "bouncy" behaviour, it dramatically improves their interactions with other dogs. By learning to approach calmly and give space, so Simba avoids triggering defensive reactions in other dogs.🐾 🐾
