Garden City Cavy Club

We are a family focused Cavy club (Cavy being the correct term for Guinea Pig) based in Christchurch, affiliated to the New Zealand Cavy Council.

The Garden City Cavy club was first formed in 1982 in Christchurch. It is dedicated to all Cavy enthusiasts (Cavy being the correct term for Guinea Pig). We are a Christchurch based, family focused Cavy club with a membership made up of adults and juniors spread the whole country. We recognise the New Zealand Cavy Council as the governing body for the Cavy fancy in New Zealand. We support our members in the ethical keeping of Guinea Pigs and encourage members in the showing of both pedigree and pet animals with the assistance of national body trained and qualified local, and invited judges. The club holds shows four times a year. As the home to past New Zealand National Champion piggies, there is plenty of knowledge to take advantage of.

Introducing the Linda Harmon Memorial Trophies 🏆
At our 29th August Winter Wonderland Show, we were incredibly proud to award the Linda Harmon Memorial trophies for the very first time.

Linda had a huge impact on Garden City Cavy Club and the wider cavy fancy, and her passion, dedication and contribution will always be remembered. It is very special to have her name continue as part of our club and shows through these 2 beautiful perpetual trophies, ensuring her legacy lives on for many years to come.

A huge thank you to Moonbeam Stud, Blue Diamond Stud and the Slade Family for sponsoring our new trophy set.
