A cruisy Saturday for us. Molly (4m Mongolian Falcon - To Love You) & Maple (2f Armory - Dame Mapperley) walking home happily after their work with Katie and Paige aboard.

Winter means we are quiet on the racing front, but busy behind the scenes teaching the babies the ropes. Today we had Cece (2f Churchill - Final Hour) out at Rangiora for her first jumpout. She still has a bit to learn, but gained a positive first experience away from home.

A massive thank you for the team at Rangiora for the hard yards they put in to organising these jumpouts. Think the girls enjoyed the barbecue too!

One to race today on our home track at Riccarton Park

1.37pm R3. GIVEMEADANCE - Terry Moseley
Contributer filly on debut. First trial down here was good, second trial she pulled up with a minor ni**le that we are now on top of. Her work has been good, and she’ll continue to improve with race experience under her belt.

Mis Speaks (5m Spieth - Indiscretions) returned to winning form yesterday in The Local Laundromat Rating 65 1200m event at Oamaru.

She got a beautiful run from barrier one to sit in the trail and fought strongly up the straight to win by half a length with Terry Moseley aboard.

Suzy is a firm stable favourite having been with us since she was a yearling. Terry has ridden her the whole way through her career and has been aboard in all her five career wins. They make a wonderful team.

Congratulations to Paul Cunneen and Katie Readings who share in the ownership with me - it was great to see the ‘old girl’ back in winning form!

Heading to Oamaru tomorrow with one runner, after a roadtrip to Timaru last week.

1.12pm R5. MIS SPEAKS - Terry Moseley
She’s really bright in her work. Drops back to 65 grade here without a whole lot of luck in 75 grade. Drawn barrier one, she’ll be looking to find a handier position in the running this week. Really pleased with her and think with a bit of luck she can run well.

One to head to Timaru tomorrow to race.

1.07pm R5. MIS SPEAKS - Terry Moseley
Hasn’t had things go her way her last two starts, but has been hitting the line well. Drops back to 65 grade tomorrow. Drawn barrier 7, so hopefully can find a nice position in the running to finish off the race strongly.

One to head to Wingatui today to race tomorrow.

4.24pm R9. HIVARI - Brett Murray
Gallant effort last start in Open grade on this track to run second. Draws the outside gate, which isn’t too much of a worry to him, he can take a sit anywhere in the running. He’s working well, and looks bright. He’s a very genuine horse who always gives a good account of himself.

The handsome Casper (1g Satono Aladdin - Ataahuadreamsrfree) before departing for a well deserved holiday on Monday.

He has done a wonderful job during his first educational preparation in the stable where he has adapted to our stable routine, learnt about the barriers and worked on each training track at Riccarton Park.

Thank you to the team at Nayton Mitchell Racing, for a wonderful job of breaking Casper in.

He has the looks, moves and temperament to be an exciting prospect for his group of owners.

Two to race today at Wingatui, unfortunately the track will be a bit wetter after rain yesterday than we’d hoped for, but both have travelled well and ready to take their place.

2.30pm R5. MIS SPEAKS - Terry Moseley
Really pleased with her last run, with a wide draw we opted to change her race pattern and get back. She hit the line very strongly after getting held up a couple of times up the straight. The wetter track is a bit of an unknown to her on race day, but has won a trial in similar conditions this prep.

4.15pm R8. HIVARI - Brett Murray
Has had no luck in last two starts at Riccarton. Small field here, although up in grade he looks as if he should be competitive as he steps up in distance. He seems to put in regardless of the track so hoping to see him close off the race well with a lightweight on his back.
