Let me introduce you all to Penelope from Sweet P Massage & Wellness - based in Rolleston. Without my regular appointments where Penelope works her magic on my back, I doubt I could keep grooming as many of your precious dogs as I do 🐶 ✂️

A little personal update and heartfelt thanks from me to you 💐 I have been overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and thoughtful cards, flowers and the sweetest gifts since we lost our darling Franki ❤️‍🩹 As many of you know, a few days after losing Franki my darling Dad had a significant heart attack which resulted in him needing a heart bypass. Lots of you had your appointments shuffled at short notice, some of you multiple times, as I made three trips up and down to Wellington to be with my family over the last four weeks. Now that the dust has settled and Dad is well on his way to recovery, and I have finally caught up with everyone’s appointments, I really wanted to say ‘thank you’. Everyone has been so very, very kind 🥰 Your hugs (and your dogs cuddles), gentle words, flexibility and understanding have meant the world to me and I’m forever grateful 💞
Onwards we go to brighter days.
Much love,
Amanda x

The post I never wanted to make ❤️‍🩹

Our loyal and loving Franki passed away peacefully today in my arms. She was wrapped up in more love than words can ever describe.

I know you will all miss her too, whether she was checking your pockets and bags for the treats that so many of you shared with her, or if she was loudly greeting you at the gate, or doing zoomies in the garden with your dog 🐶 She was a terrible receptionist but a perfect friend.

She was loved beyond all measure and I will miss her every single day 💞

Some important news to share with you 🥺

As many of you know my lovely Mr Emery and I were shortly due to travel to the Middle East and Europe. Sadly due to the situation in the Middle East we now have to postpone our trip.

This means that I am now available for bookings as per usual. Late April/May and early June bookings were affected and a lot of you were needing to secure appointments with other groomers or you had booked your appointments with me earlier than you needed, or delayed them until I was due to return - this is no longer necessary.

If you would like to make a new booking during this time, or adjust your existing booking/s back to your preferred duration/date please text me urgently. I will do my very best to accommodate everyone.

Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

I am now closed, reopening on Monday 12 January 2026 🐶

Be safe, be merry and enjoy every minute with your friends and family 💐

Slightly off topic for a usual K9 Cabin post, but too good not to share ….

The K9 Cabin recently had some work done by KC Rural Builders and honestly I cannot rave enough about their exceptional workmanship, value for money, attention to detail and reliability.

If you’re in the market for a new build, renovation, any rural, or residential job, big or small, I cannot recommend them highly enough 🔨

If you’re interested in a quote call 0279288235

As with all K9 Cabin business fully endorsed and approved by Franki 🐶

Dear K9 Cabin friends ….

Some lovely news to share with you all 🥰

One of my lovely clients has just become a K9 grandmother with her gentle and precious girl, Manu, giving birth to 6 beautiful pups.

This lovely pair, Manu and Ralph, have just welcomed their ‘Double Doodle’ puppies (Retrodoodle X Labradoodle). Both Mum and Dad are beautifully natured and fully health tested (DNA, Eyes, Pennhip and Elbow). Puppies will be ready to take home late September / early October.

If you, or anyone you know might be interested in these pups please get in touch with me and I can pass your details on.

For now I am just trying to convince Franki that there is only one thing better than a dog to love, and that is two dogs to love 💕

They’re back 🤗 The world’s greatest deer antlers from Southern Buddy Pet Supplies (previously known as Wild Deer Antlers). Quality tested and approved by Miss Franki 😍

If you’ve ever given your dog one before then you’ll know 🐾 Forget those nasty chew toys and do your best buddy a favour and get them one ☝️

And while I’m at it … grab yourself a bargain with a box of Southern Buddy p**p bags for only $10 … nothing worse than a nasty bag that your finger pops through 😳 💩

In stock at The K9 Cabin now, send me a message if you’d like one, or some, put aside for you 👍🏼

You’ve all heard the news 🥺 In just a few days Catriona will be finishing at The K9 Cabin and then ✈️ home with her family to bonnie Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

So I wanted to give you all a wee update …. (I’m not known for my ‘short’ posts so you might want to get a cup of tea 😉)

⭐️ I’m not going anywhere, The K9 Cabin is business as usual for the doggos that I am able to continue with. Franki and I can’t wait to see you again soon 🥰

⭐️ Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all our past clients for understanding that I simply cannot groom the same number of dogs working on my own. It has been heartbreaking having to say goodbye to so many lovely dogs and owners but life never stands still. If you are having trouble finding a new groomer in the Selwyn area please don’t hesitate to get in touch and I can point you in the right direction 👉🏼

⭐️ As the saying goes “all good things must come to an end” but this one smarts just a little. Catriona and I have been friends for years, as have our families, we’ve shared good times, sad times, holidays and more laughter (often inappropriate 😆) than some people enjoy in a lifetime. We had a vision and by crikey we nailed it, creating a business we are ridiculously proud of. It will be strange doing it all without her by my side but I’m up for the challenge 💪🏼 And it’s not long until we head off to visit them which is exciting.

⭐️ With all that said …. you may well find me in need of a hug, some gentle reassurance or singing along to dogs with the finest country music up loud (never did manage to convert Catriona to the joys of country 🎵 ) and if sweet Franki looks at you sadly and sniffs your pockets she will just be looking for her daily cheese tax that Catriona always paid 🧀 🐶

⭐️ For the foreseeable future I won’t be taking on any new clients as I am fully booked with the dogs I am retaining - I will be sure to let you know if that changes 👍🏼

Now if you read to the end of this without falling asleep - thank you 💞

‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through the house, just Miss Franki was stirring, no sign of a mouse …

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care in the hope that doggy treats soon would appear …

The pups were nestled all snug in their (your) beds, while visions of cheese, sausages and floor crumbs danced in their heads 🐶🎄

Merry Christmas to you all 🥰 2024 has been incredible and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for trusting us to love and care for your precious pups.

The K9 Cabin will close for the year on Thursday 19 December and re-open on Tuesday 14 January 2025.

Much love to you all ❤️ and see you next year 👋🏼
