A couple of photos from what has been an incredibly busy but equally rewarding week!

I’ve got some absolutely lovely breakers in at the moment, and they are all exceeding expectations day after day. With plenty of first rides ticked off this week, it’s been incredibly rewarding watching each horse grow in confidence and progress in their education.

There’s nothing quite like seeing all the hard work start to come together, and I couldn’t be happier with how these lovely horses are coming along!

We’re heading straight into another full-power week, with Equifest kicking off on Thursday with the Kaimanawa Stallion Challenge trot-up!

Nemo’s journey has been a rather special one so far!

Nemo is a 4-year-old Kaimanawa gelding from the Home Valley, and over the past six months, he has certainly made his mark with his cheeky, playful personality. From day one, Nemo has been an incredibly active and playful character. Even in those very early days, he was always finding ways to entertain himself and play with the other stallions in the yards.

Over the past six months, they have well and truly embraced his unique personality, and it has been so rewarding watching him develop into the pony he is today. He has come such a long way from the shy, uncertain pony who first arrived, to the confident little character who now trots up to greet us in the paddock.

More recently, Nemo has started his journey under saddle and has taken to it like a duck to water. He has proven to have the kindest, most willing attitude towards his ridden work and continues to impress Noa with how easily he takes everything in his stride.

He has also now attended two shows, coming home with some fantastic results and, more importantly, gaining valuable life experience and confidence in new environments. Noa has even begun introducing him to jumping, which has been another exciting step in his education!

It’s hard to believe just how much Nemo has achieved in six short months. He continues to surprise Noa with his willingness, confidence and enthusiasm for everything she throws his way. Noa is incredibly proud of the pony he is becoming and so excited to see what the next chapter of his journey brings!

Nemo's second show was a success!

Another fantastic outing for our once-wild boy, who's continuing to grow in confidence and take everything in his stride. It's so rewarding watching how far he's come in such a short time, and I'm incredibly proud of the pony he's becoming.

He won champion open pony 🥇and won his first rug!

A big thank you to NZ Show Horse Council Incfor putting on such a lovely ribbon day and giving us another opportunity to get Nemo out and about, gaining valuable experience!

Super cute young pony looking for her future family!

Meet Penny!
2 years old, EMH 13–13.2hh.

Penny is an absolutely delightful wee girl with the sweetest nature. She loves attention, enjoys being involved in everything and has a lovely, confident personality.

Penny has been well handled and has all her basics established. She comes to be caught, has had her feet trimmed, been wormed, rugged and floated.

She is a confident, willing young pony with all the makings of a fantastic kids' pony in the future. She is now ready to find her special family to continue her education and grow up with.

Parkhill Thomas is now 5 weeks undersaddle and has well and truly ticked off the boxes. Riding out alone and in company. Walk trot canter both ways and today completed his first outing undersaddle which he took in his stride beautifully.

Wee Nemo is coming along well

Noa Smythe and Nemo

Nemo is now four months out of the wild, and despite the last couple of months being incredibly busy, he has continued to improve in leaps and bounds.

We’ve been getting Nemo out and about on multiple in-hand outings, focusing on his obstacle training and, more importantly, building his confidence in new environments. These outings have been fantastic exposure for him, and it’s been so rewarding to see his confidence grow each time.

More recently, we’ve started working towards the next big milestone — starting Nemo under saddle. He is currently only a few rides in, and already he is proving to be a lovely pony to work with. In just a handful of rides, Nemo is now confidently trotting under saddle, which is a huge achievement considering he was living wild just four months ago.

He’s showing us more and more of his personality with every step, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the next few months bring for this little guy.

There is still plenty to work on, but I’m incredibly happy with the progress Nemo has made so far and excited to continue building on his foundations.

Stevie is an 8-year-old, 15hh Gisborne-bred pinto mare who has now gone grey. She is a gorgeous-natured, fun and genuine mare with an impressive amount of positive mileage under her belt.

Stevie is a straightforward, honest and sensible ride who is ready to step into her next role as a Mum’s horse, teenager’s horse or small adult rider’s mount.

She is safe and sensible to hack alone or with company and is responsive without being sharp — no whip or spurs needed. She enjoys getting out and about, loves her jumping, and has done plenty of hacking and schooling both independently and in groups.

🏇 Stevie's experience includes:

Competition experience in Show Jumping, Show Hunter and RTR
40+ horse camps and treks
Pony Club
Adult rides
Has been on a couple gating hunts
Schooled over spars, wire, hedges and gates
Plenty of hacking and riding in new environments
Loves jumping, although she has had limited jumping with current owner
Previous competition and extensive riding experience with her previous owner

On the ground, Stevie is easy to catch and handle, great for the farrier and easy to float.

She is an easy keeper, best kept on minimal grass Stevie is sound with no known health issues.

She is the sort of mare who has seen plenty, has a great attitude and is ready for someone to get out and enjoy her. Whether you're wanting to hack, jump, compete or simply have a reliable horse to enjoy, Stevie has the experience and versatility to make a lovely all-rounder.

A genuinely lovely mare with a fantastic nature, loads of experience and plenty of fun still ahead of her.
