After a mammoth 290 days away in Starship we are finally home.

To celebrate we’re putting on a BBQ. All money raised from farm rides will be donated to Ronald McDonald House and Starship Hospital.

I’m incredibly grateful to Ronald McDonald House for the accommodation provided, 145 loads of laundry, and their Family Room in Starship for countless coffees 🤣☕️🥪🍽️ The medical team caring for Daniel are a dedicated bunch working extremely hard, juggling training and exams on top of long shifts while the nurses on 24A have been simply the best 🥰

Casual part-time position available (Weekends).

Confident and experienced person required to take a leading role over what can be crazy busy weekends, working with younger staff members. Must be able to ride a range of horses from ponies to 17HH. Most of mine are well behaved, some have a few quirks 🙄

You will be trustworthy, have excellent time management, attention to detail, be happy to take rides out around the farm (including ponying beginner riders), get horses ready for clients and most importantly, have a friendly disposition and be professional. Duties also include feed-out, keeping yards and tack room beautifully tidy and everything that goes with looking after a large team of horses who really do have names from A-Z !

Hourly rate applies. Full orientation period will be provided for the successful applicant. Immediate start.

The Cruciifixion
James Weldon Johnson

Jesus, my gentle Jesus,
Walking in the dark of the Garden --
The Garden of Gethsemane,
Saying to the three disciples:
Sorrow is in my soul --
Even unto death;
Tarry ye here a little while,
And watch with me.

Jesus, my burdened Jesus,
Praying in the dark of the Garden --
The Garden of Gethsemane.
Saying: Father,
Oh, Father,
This bitter cup,
This bitter cup,
Let it pass from me.

Jesus, my sorrowing Jesus,
The sweat like drops of blood upon his brow,
Talking with his Father,
While the three disciples slept,
Saying: Father,
Oh, Father,
Not as I will,
Not as I will,
But let thy will be done.

Oh, look at blackhearted Judas --
Sneaking through the dark of the Garden --
Leading his crucifying mob.
Oh, God!
Strike him down!
Why don't you strike him down,
Before he plants his traitor's kiss
Upon my Jesus' cheek?

And they take my blameless Jesus,
And they drag him to the Governor,
To the mighty Roman Governor.
Great Pilate seated in his hall,--
Great Pilate on his judgment seat,
Said: In this man I find no fault.
I find no fault in him.
And Pilate washed his hands.

But they cried out, saying:
Crucify him!--
Crucify him!--
Crucify him!--
His blood be on our heads.
And they beat my loving Jesus,
They spit on my precious Jesus;
They dressed him up in a purple robe,
They put a crown of thorns upon his head,
And they pressed it down --
Oh, they pressed it down --
And they mocked my sweet King Jesus.

Up Golgotha's rugged road
I see my Jesus go.
I see him sink beneath the load,
I see my drooping Jesus sink.
And then they laid hold on Simon,
Black Simon, yes, black Simon;
They put the cross on Simon,
And Simon bore the cross.

On Calvary, on Calvary,
They crucified my Jesus.
They nailed him to the cruel tree,
And the hammer!
The hammer!
The hammer!
Rang through Jerusalem's streets.
The hammer!
The hammer!
The hammer!
Rang through Jerusalem's streets.

Jesus, my lamblike Jesus,
Shivering as the nails go through his hands;
Jesus, my lamblike Jesus,
Shivering as the nails go through his feet.
Jesus, my darling Jesus,
Groaning as the Roman spear plunged in his side;
Jesus, my darling Jesus,
Groaning as the blood came spurting from his wound.
Oh, look how they done my Jesus.

Mary,
Weeping Mary,
Sees her poor little Jesus on the cross.
Mary,
Weeping Mary,
Sees her sweet, baby Jesus on the cruel cross,
Hanging between two thieves.

And Jesus, my lonesome Jesus,
Called out once more to his Father,
Saying:
My God,
My God,
Why hast thou forsaken me?
And he drooped his head and died.

And the veil of the temple was split in two,
The midday sun refused to shine,
The thunder rumbled and the lightning wrote
An unknown language in the sky.
What a day! Lord, what a day!
When my blessed Jesus died.

Oh, I tremble, yes, I tremble,
It causes me to tremble, tremble,
When I think how Jesus died;
Died on the steeps of Calvary,
How Jesus died for sinners,
Sinners like you and me.

Two of our lovely Hitch a Ride team are joining the retirement paddock today.

At the age of 24 Poppins (Tosti Girl) has left quite the legacy in Harness Racing with 6 colts and 6 fillies with successful racing careers. She has been a trusted choice for many a beginner rider, known for her grumpy mare ears that quietly communicated her need for personal space.

Cara was given to us in 2023 by her previous owners who were looking for a semi-retirement home. She looked after all her riders with distinction. At the age of around 23 she has been finding riding out more difficult recently and has been diagnosed with arthritis in her hocks.

I'm so lucky to have had these two beautiful mares on the team and they've both earnt a well-deserved rest. ❤️🥕🍏🐎

A gentle reminder to riders booking my horses for a Hitch a Ride …

We operate on a high trust model. That is, we trust that when you are out riding our horses that you are riding in a safe manner that not only looks after you, but also our horses. We trust that you ride them you’re also giving some thought to the next rider who may (or may not be) as experienced as you. We open our farm tracks up for riders to enjoy. We have also allowed riders access to paddocks. This DOES NOT mean you are free to gallop or race our horses.

As a result of an incident today (which required an ambulance callout) in future, Hitch a Ride horses are to be ridden on marked tracks only and if I hear of any shenanigans future bookings will be denied.

Safer riding everyone 👍

Demolition of the implement shed and repair of the stables will start at 8am on Monday 23 February and is expected to take a week. Things might be a bit noisy for a while so please bear this in mind as you ride out. Both arenas will be closed for Monday to start with with further closures possible depending on progress. Rider safety comes first.
