Really pleased with how Tama jumped today. It’s been a while since he did any jumping as he’s been working on building strength and balance. It really showed today as he coped so well jumping in a small space for a big horse.

UPCOMING HOLIDAY
Just a heads up I will be taking a bit of time off in the beginning of July to celebrate multiple birthdays. I will not be available for appointments from 4th July and back on the 13th July.

Both my little helpers have their birthdays, (and oldest is currently inviting half the neighbourhood to his party so I have a lot of organising to do!) I’m also sneaking off on a girls trip for a few days with a friend to celebrate their birthday.

Please book any second half of July appointments earlier rather than later. Messages will be monitored intermittently while I’m off but don’t expect a quick reply as I will be switching off social media a bit to be present with my family and friends.

The gorgeous Tama has been here just over a week now and is looking great. He’s here for some general schooling and strengthening work. I find short bursts of flatwork with plenty of variety in between much better for progressing than drilling them round in circles for a long time every day. He’s done plenty of hacking and of course my favourite poles in hand, as well as having a mini massage daily, balance pads, core and leg stretches. Plus the all important days off. If you’re trying to build muscle this is key.

He’s a 5 year old tb by Tarzino who came off the track last October and is a big boy, probably pushing 17.2

The May weather was a treat with endless sunshine and here are my highlights

1. Grayson was with me for the whole month and we did a lot of hand walking
2. A little bit of riding
3. Regular balance pad work
4. One of my lovely clients relaxing after a treatment
5. An expressive boy telling us what he thinks of the balance pads
6. Jenny was a very fun ride
7. Tama always puts a smile on my face and now he’s come to stay for a few weeks schooling and strengthening
8 Got my hands on the tools for some trimming
9. Lots of pony time in the sun with my little helpers

Grayson had a little clean up today ready for being picked up by his owner tomorrow. He’s been an absolute pleasure to have around and will be missed by the horses and humans here.
My step count is going to go down now I don’t have my daily walk to go on with him!

It’s never too late to learn new skills. Today was a big day of practical learning. Thanks to the great women at BOP Barefoot Hoofcare and Seaview Ranch Christian Camp for hosting and being patient with me working out how to coordinate my hands on the tools.
Excited to progress with this further as hoof balance is so important for horses to feel comfortable in their bodies

Sharing this as it’s sometimes the reality of working with horses. I was helping Basil’s owner with a napping problem out hacking, which was getting worse despite her doing her best to set him up for success. He’s been brought into work slowly and has started with doing the hacking trail in hand and when ridden he has his paddock mate to follow but at this point needed someone more confident to work through it on board. With lots of patience and calm redirection he got there eventually and somehow I didn’t even lose my pom pom in the tree, despite his best efforts.
I’ll be going back in a few days for another ride which will hopefully be an improvement from today

Did you know as well as bodywork I also offer ridden sessions? Whether your horse needs schooling, fitness or hacking out I can come to you to do this on a one-off or regular basis. I am a quiet, sympathetic rider with years of experience riding professionally, including 10 years of trackwork. I particularly love working with off the track thoroughbreds and the general greenies. Light enough to ride from 14.2hh upwards. Message me if you want to know more
