Solo hacking with Vita hasn’t been all plain sailing and today was a real breakthrough. She has been brilliant hacking in company and this last week I’ve spent a lot of time going round the areas that she’s confident in and very gradually pushing a little bit further from her comfort zone.
Today we took a collective deep breath and headed out to the back of the farm and she was brilliant. We were ambushed by pheasants, rabbits and ducks but she stayed focused and felt like she’s starting to enjoy it.
I love hacking for the youngsters as it’s so much more varied for brain and body and such an important part of their development

My return to eventing after a good few years away was at the dizzy heights of 45cm! But it was exactly what I love the most, helping a very green horse get around and have a good time. I sat on The Famous Toby for the first time in the dressage warm up today and it was his first ever competition very fresh off the track, so we were equally unprepared!
He was a little unsure of his new job at first but coped so well in a very busy atmosphere and trotted his way round with a smile on his face for a third place. A real credit to Isola Racing Stables where he had a long racing career.
Unfortunately no footage of the XC which was definitely our favourite phase.

September felt like Spring has arrived at last and lots of horses enjoyed their massages and balance pads work.

Vita’s work has gradually ramped up and she had her first outing to PC and a few jumping sessions. I’m looking forward to getting her out and about more in the coming weeks.

I was happily reunited with Grayson and kept him in work while his owner was away. This is something I can do at your property if you are local to me.

Vita exceeded all my expectations today. I wasn’t quite at the point that she felt ready for an outing but when you don’t have a float and get offered a lift from a friend you take it! So off we went to pony club and she was fantastic.

This is the highlights but actually we didn’t do much as we’re still focusing on base fitness and strength. Lots of mooching around watching the others and getting used to standing still and chilling. But the little bit of jumping we did made me excited for the future!

Is your horse or pony feeling a bit tired after NISS? All the extra travel, spending more time in yards and competing multiple days in a row has probably left them with some tired muscles. August felt quite wintery and there was quite a few frosty mornings and a fair bit of mud! Vita finished up her mini break and started work with me. We’re getting the basics established and I’m looking forward to a bit more exciting riding coming up.
Angel had an easy time of it as both boys decided they’re not really into winter riding. I’m hoping spring time might encourage them a bit more.
And of course time for some lovely clients and great facial expressions
