Short coats still shed, collect dirt, produce oils and build up dead coat and their nails still need maintaining often.

When skin and coat aren’t properly cared for, buildup can contribute to things like odour, irritation, other skin issues, which is why regular maintenance matters even when there’s no big haircut involved.

Cleaning is part of the groom. 🧼🐾

Something I wish more pet owners knew is that what happens behind the scenes matters just as much as the finished result.

Cleaning isn’t something I do when I have a spare minute. It’s part of my grooming standard.

Tools, tables, equipment, floors, bathing areas, everything needs to be cleaned and properly maintained between pets.

Because we’re not just working with hair. We’re working with animals who all come through the same environment, and we have a responsibility to minimise the risk of spreading contaminants between them.

There isn’t someone walking into every grooming salon telling us exactly what standard to meet.

So WE have a responsibility as groomers to set high standards and actually follow them.

Because pets deserve more than a beautiful haircut.

They deserve to be safe, comfortable and cared for from the moment they walk through the door until they leave.

And their owners deserve to know that we’re taking that responsibility seriously.

Welfare doesn’t stop when the clippers turn off. 🤍

Every day we're surrounded by flying hair, dander, nail dust, skin flakes and whatever else our clients bring through the door. We might not notice it in the moment, but our lungs do ❤️‍🩹

Over time, repeatedly breathing in these tiny particles can contribute to respiratory problems, including what's commonly referred to as "groomer's lung" a term used to describe chronic irritation and lung issues that can develop from long-term exposure to grooming dust and allergens.
