CAT NEUTER CLINIC - SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST!

- Only applicable to MALE cats over 4 months old.
- Cats must have 2 descended testicles.
- Must sign up in clinic to register for the event.
- Pain relief will be supplied within the $10 cost.
- Cats must be fasted from 9pm the night before.
- Cats must be healthy at the time of the surgery.
- Post-operative care will be given on discharge.

FEMALE GINGER KITTEN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!

"Hello there, I would absolutely love to find my forever home. I'm somewhere between 8 to 12 weeks of age, and am in pretty good nick.

I am quite shy and take a while to warm up to people, but I'm not a fiesty little lady.

I would suit a quiet home where I would have some one-on-one attention and lots of patience.

A $100 adoption fee would cover my first vaccinations and de-worming.

Please give the clinic a call to see if I'm around. If so, I'd love for you to come visit me!"

GRASS SEEDS - a pain in the paw! 🐾

Beautiful Poppy came in to see us recently with a swelling in between her front toes. She had done a great job at licking it, making it a big, infected OUCH indeed! 🤕

Too sore to touch, Poppy was lightly sedated by our team at Swanson. The area was clipped and prepped, and after a bit of probing around, Dr Danielle fished out a nice, long grass seed. 🌱
Poppy is the 4th grass seed removal case we have seen this summer. With their pointy shape and spikes, grass seeds tend to bury their way into the body and migrate, reaching very tricky, and sometimes dangerous places. 😵

So, after you take your shaggy dog to the park, it may be wise to have a look in between their toes for any sneaky grass seeds. And if you notice a swelling, get them checked out, just in case! 🐕

And our vaccination drive is done!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers from Swanson Vets, Green Bay Vets, and VSA West, as well as our clients, family, and friends, who helped this initiative come to life.

Thank you also to those who donated through Swanson's Teddy Bear Clinic fundraiser, which enabled us to purchase the vaccines, consumables, and advertising. 🙏

Thanks to you, ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY of our community's most vulnerable dogs are now vaccinated against the deadly canine parvovirus.

That's 170 beloved members of financially- constrained families, 170 dogs who were most at risk of disease and death, now one step closer to being protected. 💪🏼

Each year, hundreds of dogs and puppies die of parvovirus in Auckland. The disease is extremely contagious and unvaccinated pups are most at risk.

To reduce the barriers of cost, West Auckland veterinary clinics have teamed up to hold a free vaccination drive for dogs for those struggling financially to vaccinate their dogs. The event will be run by volunteers of the veterinary industry, and has been put together purely through donations. 💞

📍The event will be held on Sunday 23rd November, from 10am to 5pm, at the carpark of Te Pai Centre, Henderson.

The event will run as a "drive-through", with dogs and owners remaining in their vehicle through various stations. Both owner and dog will exit the vehicle only for the administration of the vaccination which is performed by a veterinarian. 🚗

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

- The vaccination drive does NOT include a full veterinary consultation.
- Dogs receiving the vaccine must be over the age of 6 weeks.
- Adult dogs must not have been vaccinated against parvovirus in the last 12 months.
- Dogs must not have had any vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, or lack of appetite in the last 1 week, to receive the parvovirus vaccination.
- Owners must sign a consent form prior to the vaccination.
- Owners must be over 18 years of age.

Dogs not in a vehicle at the event will not be vaccinated. Event staff have the right to decline service at any point.

There is no registration and no costs involved.
