Very blessed to have successfully rehabilitated & released George (named by his rescuers) 😊 He was found upside down between commercial buildings. When he arrived he was covered in mites, seriously thin & very weak! He spent the first 3 days in a brooder being crop fed every few hours day & night with no fight or hesitation from him. On day four he came out of the brooder & started eating on his own & started to hate me πŸ˜† Day 7 he went into a large flight aviary where he gained wing strength. Because of where he was found we got permission to release him here where we have kākā in our area. On his last morning here day 11 we heard a kākā in our gum trees screeching & George was answering back which was perfect timing for his release. Within 5 mins they were both at the top of the gum tree & we’ve seen & heard them both since!
