Say hello to Beignet! She came in to see us recently and we couldn't resist snapping her pic!

A beignet is a deep-fried pastry of French origin. The most common type is dusted with confectioner’s sugar, so a lovely sweet treat! What a perfect name for a lovely sweet girl!

Licki Mats are a great distraction tool for your furry friends who may be a little wriggly during their examination. 👅

These mats are also so helpful to have for our anxious patients as the repetitive licking motion stimulates the brain to release feel-good chemicals like endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine which can calm and soothe them. 🐶

Medication can also be hidden using these mats which reduces stress AND saves time! 💊

Zoro came to see us recently and gobbled up the flea tablet hidden by some yummy food and then spent the rest of the examination licking the mat clean. Didn't even notice the vaccination at all! 💉

Another part of International dog Day is to raise awareness about the number of dogs that are currently in rescue centres and encourage the adoption of these animals.

Sadly, so many dogs become homeless for many different reasons. International Dog Day hopes to encourage people to adopt dogs from shelters and rescue organisations.

You will find many places who have wonderful dogs of all different sizes, breeds and personalities looking for their forever homes. A few options are SPCA Auckland Centres, Saving Hope Foundation and Chained Dog Rehabilitation & Rehoming NZ.

There are other ways of supporting these charities through donations (and it doesn't have to be just money you are donating). Most charities will welcome any sort of bedding, toys, food or accessories. Even your precious time can be such a great help, for the smaller charities especially

Say hello to Sidney! This cutie pie popped in for a post op check after his desexing surgery and whilst here, had an impromptu photoshoot!

Molly came in to see us this week to get her Cytopoint injection as she suffers from pruritus (itchy skin)

She was given a dose of Cytopoint by injection which lasts 4-8 weeks. Molly has been receiving these injections for a while now when her skin flares up and they have made such a difference to her life!

Cytopoint works like your dog’s own immune system. It is specifically designed to target and neutralize one of the main proteins that send itch signals to your dog’s brain that triggers scratching, licking, and chewing.

It blocks signals that trigger allergic itch, relieves signs of itch such as scratching and licking and allows red, irritated skin to heal.

Molly is very pleased to be ditching the itch!
