We recently asked you, our wonderful clients, to help us choose which charity would receive the proceeds from this year’s Santa Paws event — and the votes are in! 💕

We shortlisted four incredible charities, all doing amazing work to help animals and the people who care for them. After counting all of your votes, we're so excited to announce that…

has been chosen as our Santa Paws charity!
Pet Refuge does such an incredible job providing safe, temporary care for pets when their families are escaping family violence, helping keep both pets and their people safe during incredibly difficult times. 🐾❤️

We’re so proud that our PetMed Vets community has chosen to support such an important cause.

🐾💚 Vet Nurse Awareness Week 💚🐾

This week, we’re celebrating the amazing veterinary nurses who help keep our patients happy, healthy and cared for every single day.
Being a vet nurse is so much more than holding animals for the vet. We’re there for the whole journey, from cuddling a nervous puppy during their first visit, to monitoring anaesthetics, taking blood samples, placing IV catheters, caring for hospitalised patients, preparing medications, assisting with procedures, educating owners and making sure every patient feels as safe and comfortable as possible. 🩺🐶🐱

We clean, we organise, we monitor, we comfort, we educate, we problem-solve… and yes, we spend a lot of our day covered in fur, slobber and occasionally things we’d rather not mention! 😂
But above all, we care.
We care about the little details.
We care about making scary experiences a little less scary.
We care about getting to know each patient as an individual.
And we care deeply about the people behind them, too. 💚
It’s a job that can be incredibly challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. Getting to be part of your pets’ lives, from their first puppy or kitten visit through to their senior years, is something we never take for granted.

So this Vet Nurse Awareness Week, we want to celebrate our incredible nursing team and all the wonderful vet nurses everywhere who pour their hearts into caring for animals every day. 🐾

A very important senior wellness check before Dr Jenny heads away… although these two might be slightly biased patients! 🐱🐱🩺

Jenny’s own two senior cats came in for their check-ups before she heads off on leave from 23rd September. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on our senior pets and make sure they’re feeling their best. ❤️

While Jenny is away, everything at the clinic will continue as normal, with our wonderful team here to look after all your pets. 🐾

Dr Jenny will be back in the clinic from mid-October, rested and ready to hear all about what her furry patients have been up to! 💕

This sweet lady came to see us recently after developing a limp. On examination, we found a thick thorn/grass seed lodged between her paw pads — ouch! 😣

The seed was carefully removed, and she is now sporting a little bandage to keep the area clean and protected while it heals. 💗

Grass seeds can easily become embedded in paws, ears, noses and coats, and if left unnoticed, they can sometimes cause infection or migrate deeper into the tissues.

🌿 A little reminder to check your pets after walks:
🐾 Check between their paw pads and toes.
🌱 Run your hands through their coat, especially around feet, ears and armpits.
👀 Keep an eye out for limping, licking, swelling or soreness.
🩺 If you suspect a grass seed is stuck, get it checked by your vet

A few minutes of checking after a walk can help prevent a much bigger problem! 🐶💚

🌈 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🌈

Today we remember the pets who may no longer be by our side, but will forever hold a special place in our hearts. 🐾❤️

We feel so privileged to have been part of the lives of so many beloved pets, including being there to support families through their final goodbye and helping them peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge.

We would love to see your photos and hear the stories of your special companions, the ones you have loved, lost and will never forget. ❤️

And to all the beautiful souls we have cared for over the years, thank you for letting us be a small part of your journey. 🌈🐾

🐾 Meet Sophie! 🐾

Sophie has joined our team as a vet nurse, bringing three years of experience to the role. She started her nursing career in mixed practice before spending the past six months working in emergency.

Originally from a rural background, Sophie grew up surrounded by animals, which sparked her love for them from a young age. She absolutely loves meeting all the lovely pets and their owners, and has a particular soft spot for scruffy little terriers! 🐾🥰

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find Sophie spending time with her own scruffy fur baby, Scooby.

Be sure to say hello and give Sophie a warm welcome to the team! 💕

💗 On Wednesdays, we wear pink! 💗

This gorgeous girl came in for some X-rays sporting the cutest matching hot pink collar, lead and p**p bag holder… so of course, we had to keep her matching with a hot pink vet wrap for her catheter! 🎀🩷

Swipe to see a little behind the scenes of what our nurses get up to! After her X-rays under sedation, she really didn’t want to wake up alone, so Nurse Vicky kept her company with lots of cuddles — all while squeezing in some admin and organising her X-rays. 🥹💕

Our nurses are always multitasking behind the scenes, but making sure our patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for is always the priority. 🐾🩷

Because sometimes nursing looks like cuddles, comfort, and a little bit of admin all at the same time! 😂💕
