A pretty special milestone for one of our homebred boys. 🐴A huge thank you to John from Trail Blazers Horses and Handlers for giving our beautiful Rex the most wonderful start under saddle. Rex is one of our Shire crosses that we bred here at Dynasty Park, so seeing him take these first steps in his ridden career was pretty special. All I asked for was a kind, quiet and confidence-building start for this big young horse — and John absolutely nailed it. Rex spent a week doing groundwork, followed by two weeks under saddle, finishing with a beach ride before he has been turned out again for some more time to mature. I went along to watch and honestly couldn’t have been happier. Rex was calm, relaxed and incredibly brave — happily going through the water, up the dunes and behaving like a seasoned pro amongst a group of older horses. In fact, he may have been the best behaved of the lot! Starting young horses is such an important stage in their lives, and John struck the perfect balance of giving Rex a soft, easy introduction while still teaching him the boundaries and respect that a big young horse needs.I’m absolutely over the moon with the job he’s done and so grateful for the care and time he put into Rex. Lucky for us John is now in Auckland, so If anyone is looking to have a horse started I can highly recommend. Thank you again, John — we couldn’t have asked for a better start for this special boy. 🤍
