While bird flu (H5N1) has not been detected in Auckland, it's important for all New Zealanders to know what to do if they come across a sick or dead wild bird.

If you see one:
❌ Don't touch or move it.
📞 Report it to MPI on 0800 80 99 66.
🐕 Keep pets, especially dogs, away from sick or dead birds.

If your pet has had contact with a sick or dead bird, please give your local CareVets clinic a call for advice before bringing them in.

Our goal is to help your furry family members learn that coming to the vet can be all about treats, cuddles, and fun. I am writing to thank you for the wonderful "Happy Visits" initiative.

Our dog, Scout, had become quite anxious about visiting the vet. Since Gina suggested these visits a few weeks ago, we have brought Scout in four or five times for relaxed sessions filled with treats and cuddles.

The difference has been remarkable. Initially, Scout wouldn't leave the car without significant bribery and had to be coaxed through the front door. During our "Happy Visit" last week, she jumped out of the car, walked straight through the front door and into the consultation room without any hesitation. She was even excited to see Gina and Jim.

These visits have made a huge difference in Scout's anxiety levels. Thank you all for your care and patience, with a special thanks to Gina and Jim.
