🐾✨ PATIENT OF THE WEEK — GUCCI ✨🐾

Gucci came in to see us after his owner noticed something sticking out of his foot.

On first exam we thought it was a small thorn.. little did we know it was a 3cm long palm tree spine!

Thankfully, Gucci was such a brave boy throughout the whole process and is already feeling much more comfortable now that the spine has been removed. 💙

It just goes to show that even the smallest wounds can sometimes be hiding something bigger underneath! If your pet is licking, limping, or paying extra attention to an area, it’s always worth getting it checked.

Check out the photos below to see what we found!

Good job Gucci! We are glad you are feeling better!

🚗 Keeping Your Pets Safe in the Car 🚗

Did you know that an unrestrained dog in the car can become a serious danger to both themselves and passengers during sudden braking or an accident? Just like people, our furry family members need to travel safely too!

Using a properly fitted seatbelt harness, secured crate, or dog barrier can help:
✔️ Prevent injuries during accidents or sharp stops
✔️ Stop pets from distracting the driver
✔️ Reduce the risk of pets escaping after an accident
✔️ Keep everyone in the vehicle safer and calmer

Even short trips to the beach, park, or vet clinic should include safe restraint. Dogs moving freely around the car can easily become distracted, anxious, or accidentally interfere with driving.

A few extra moments securing your pet before travel could make all the difference. ❤️

If you’re unsure about the best travel restraint options for your pet our friendly team at Peninsula Bay Vet Hospital is happy to help with advice on safe travel solutions for pets of all size

🐾 PUPPY PRESCHOOL 🐾

Give your puppy the best start in life with our 3-week Puppy Preschool Course for just $140!

Our course is designed to help your puppy build confidence, learn important life skills, and socialise in a safe and supportive environment.

The course includes:
🐶 Two Zoom sessions held with Mikayla
🐶 Three in-clinic play sessions held at your closest vet clinic
🐶 Support and guidance from our puppy preschool instructors

Each play date focuses on different areas of your puppy’s development:

✨ Class 1: Meet & Greet
We focus on puppy behaviour, socialisation, and observe how each puppy interacts to help build confidence and positive experiences.

✨ Class 2: Desensitising Class
This session covers getting your puppy comfortable with nail trims, ear cleaning, grooming, and exposure to different sounds, such as thunder, lightning, vacuum cleaners, and more.

✨ Class 3: Commands, manners and graduation
We work on essential commands including recall training, lead walking, sit, down, stay, “on your mat/bed,” as well as respectful manners and boundaries at home.
Finished with our graduation ceremony - each puppy will go home with a puppy pack, and free flea and worm treatment.

To join Puppy Preschool, puppies need to:
✔️ Have had their first vaccination
✔️ Have had their kennel cough vaccination
✔️ Be up to date with flea and worm treatment

Sweet Tomoe visited us for her monthly Cytopoint injection 🐾 💉

This beautiful girl was waiting so patiently for her itchy skin treatment — and of course winning our hearts 💛

For dogs suffering from itchy skin due to allergies, Cytopoint can provide fast, targeted relief by helping to break the itch cycle right where it starts. It works by blocking the itch signals that trigger scratching, helping your dog feel more comfortable and protecting their skin from further irritation.

If your dog is constantly scratching, licking, or chewing at their skin, Cytopoint may be able to help.

📞 Contact the friendly team at Peninsula Bay Vets on 09 428 7017 if you'd like to learn more about Cytopoint injections and whether they may be suitable for your pet.
